From the moment you step inside Delray Shores Pharmacy and
The Foxworth Fountain, you are transported back to the 1930s -
a much simpler time where people shared a soda and a conversation.
During that era, patients got advice from their neighborhood
pharmacist and felt at home at their community pharmacy.
Today, Delray Shores Pharmacy and The Foxworth Fountain
provides that same hometown pharmacy, along with a soda
fountain and a retail shop offering unique gifts.
Delray Shores Pharmacy is the longest-running, family owned,
independent pharmacy in Delray Beach. The late pharmacist Thom
Dildine and his wife Carol founded the pharmacy in 1975. Originally
located on Lake Ida Road, just west of Congress Avenue, Thom
ran a successful business near the Delray Shores neighborhood.
Upon Thom’s retirement in 2006, his son, TJ Dildine, took over the
family business as lead pharmacist and together with his wife Rhyan
Dildine, became owner.
Six months ago, in an effort to add an authentic soda fountain,
breakfast and lunch counter, and compounding lab, TJ and Rhyan
moved the location of the pharmacy to 124 NE 5th Ave in Downtown
Delray Beach. Today, the brand new Flossy B. Building, named after
their 5-year-old daughter, houses the Delray Shores Pharmacy and
The Foxworth Fountain, named after their 18-month-old son. The
charming old-fashioned soda fountain serves up delicious floats,
egg creams and flavored sodas. The chefs, Rhyan and her mother
Kimberly Linthicum, created a full menu with delicious breakfast
and lunch items - such as made to order waffles, homemade buttermilk
biscuits and gravy from the South, oatmeal bowls, avocado
toasts, and even special menu items for kids and diners who are on
the Gluten-free, Paleo, Keto and Vegan diets. The Foxworth Fountain
just recently launched their “Adulting” menu, which offers craft
beer milkshakes and floats, CBD milkshakes and sundaes, and wine
and champagne by the glass. Happy Hour is from 4 to 7 pm every
day with $2 off wines, $2 off “adulting” milkshakes, $1 off CBD addons,
and $1 off craft beers.
The owners invite the community to come in for their prescription
needs, health advice, or to stay awhile to enjoy a drink and food
at the fountain counter.
“It’s two businesses in one. We try to be as authentic as possible
with the old-fashioned soda fountain inside the pharmacy, like it
was in the 1930s,” said pharmacist and co-owner TJ Dildine.
His wife Rhyan thought of this concept long ago when they first
started dating. “When I heard that his dad owned a pharmacy in
town, my first question was: do ya’ll have a soda fountain? Who
