It’s Halloween!!!
October may be about many other things - like pumpkin
spice everything - but I get very excited about Halloween,
costumes and (our version of) Fall.
Delray Beach has a few fun ways to celebrate this pagan
holiday for children and adults. Did you know that the Delray Beach
Halloween Parade has been happening for 56 years! It’s a great way
to test drive those costumes and Trick - or - Treat the kids from the
inter-coastal to Kidfest at the Tennis Center! Another option is the
Haunted Halloween Movies Matinee hosted by the Delray Beach Public
Library. They will be showing two classic family friendly “scary” movies
with a special treat - the 1921 Haunted House will have live piano
accompaniment! And of course there is the always popular Witches
of Delray Ride - the 7th annual dress as a witch, decorate your bike,
and ride for charity! Read about these and other Halloween events all
throughout this issue and also, about the history of Halloween.
Diane Feen is one lucky lady. She gets to visit our amazing restaurants
and sample wonderful dishes, but most importantly she meets
with some of the amazing people in our city, and shares with us the
incredible work they do. This month is no exception. Our City Person,
Susan Berkowitz-Schwartz was there when Martin Luther King gave
his “I have a dream” speech - and this inspired her. She believes deeply
that we are all “the same and different” and this is why she began a
movement 45 years ago called “All People’s Day.” And this is the tip of
the iceberg. We need more humans like Susan in the world.
Feel like dining above the Ave? Visit Buddha Sky Bar
and reserve the Chef’s table. It’s got the absolute best
view of Atlantic Ave, it’s private, and it’s the only place
of its kind in Delray! Read about the amazing foods
they serve in our Restaurant Review.
Say Boo and Scary On!
Magic is
believing in
yourself. If you
can do that,
you can make
anything
happen.
von Goethe
