favorites – the Spicy Beef – better known as the “Pot of Gold.”
When it comes to transforming a food group into an exotic
Asian delicacy, Mr. Ku is a master. The other part to the culinary
puzzle is Chef Rob Araya, who’s been cooking up masterful food
with incredible fanfare. Add that to their manager Victor Korobka
(who has extensive experience in the Restaurant-Casino industry)
and you have a perfect combination of passion and possession of
a culinary weapon for ecstasy.
Their entrees range from fine Steaks to Poultry and seafood for
the Gods. Each dish is prepared with ingredients that combust in
your mouth with elation. It’s sensual and sensible with a unique
combination of ingredients rarely combined.
Take the Chilean Sea Kimchee Seabass for example. This flaky
flavorful dish comes with the most extraordinary Edamame Risotto
you have ever tasted and is garnished with delicate stir-fried
green beans with a pungent sauce. It’s so divinely unique and
tasty you will dream about having it again.
Other outstanding dishes are the Marinated Rack of Lamb, Black
Angus Truffle Filet, the Buddha Style Marinated Skirt Steak prepared
with Asian Ginger Chimichurri and Lobster Mashed Potatoes.
What?! Lobster Mashed Potatoes? These smooth creamy potatoes
are infused with bits of lobster and combined with lobster
broth, cheese, butter and heavy cream. The results are something
to savor and swoon over (I did). The Edamame Risotto has the
same hypnotic effect.
That’s the beauty of The Buddha Sky Bar. Their dishes are prepared
with the delicacy and flavor usually reserved for chefs to
serve at private dinner parties. Add that to the elegant surroundings
with the minimalistic modern flair and you have the perfect
combination of food and fanfare.
The menu also consists of Soups and Curries, seafood entrees
like Thai Coconut Crusted Scottish Salmon and Ginger Shrimp as
well as noodle dishes and fresh Sushi and Sashimi.
There’s Blue Crab, Octopus, Eel, Scallops, Squid and King Crab
Sashimi as well as thinly sliced Japanese Yellow Tail Tuna on a bed
of seaweed salad, Jalapeno infused olive oil and cilantro and Snapper
with Lemon infused olive oil and Kimchee vinaigrette. They
also have a Sushi Roll Menu with colossal favorites.
Their Raw Bar has fresh Kumamoto Oysters, Middle Neck
Claims, Jumbo shrimp cocktail, Spanish Octopus and a Buddha
Seafood Platter (to indulge your fresh seafood fantasy).
The Mixology at Buddha Sky Bar has its origin in creativity with
a gleeful sentiment. The Buddha Lychee Saketini is made with
Grey Goose Vodka, Sake, Lychee Puree, Agave and fresh Lime juice.
Another good choice is the Berry Garden Mule with Titos Vodka,
Blueberries and Blackberries, Lime, Mint, Agave and Ginger Beer.
Shrimp Shumai
Rack of Lamb
There are two pages of exotic drinks with names like Geisha in the
Vines, No Gamble No Future (it’s a hearty one), Skinny Hibiscus
and others.
They have an extensive wine list and desserts such as Crème
Brulee Cheesecake, homemade Double Chocolate Cake and Key
Lime Pie. If your endorphins don’t catch up with your dreams,
then try two and call me in the morning.
There are three floors to this foodie heaven. The top floor (or
sky bar) has a glass enclosed rooftop atrium that gives one a feel
of expansiveness yet inclusion. The seats are comfortable, and the
interior is intimate, yet has a view of their Asian inspired artwork
amidst Mother Nature’s purity.
The Buddha Sky Bar has a multi-level of activity abuzz. The décor
is ripe for parties and there is space (and staff) for Weddings,
Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Corporate Events and Celebrations. “We
have a lot of networking events, a great sound system, laser lighting
and a private room for those who prefer to sit out the action.
We host charity and fundraising events as well,” said Korobka.
They have LED lights to illuminate the menu’s more salient features
and a Nightclub on the 2nd Floor that rocks from 9pm to
2am (in the Sky Bar). Ladies Night is Thursday.
If the beauty of nature and nurture have a calling for you check
out their open-air 3rd floor Patio. This long “Chef’s Table” seats
10 to 12 guests and must be reserved. It’s not uncommon to see
a celebrity, sports figure or CEO on the premises because of its
exclusivity and elegance.
Buddha Sky Bar is a revolutionary concept with a deep heritage.
The food is fresh and heavenly, and the intimacy and serenity are
a nice touch on the Avenue. “The biggest misconception about us
is that we are just a sushi restaurant. We have Asian-Fusion gourmet
food in a lush comfortable setting,” said Korobka.
He’s right. The Buddha Sky Bar reaches for the stars each night
and catches the bright lights and brilliance of well-prepared food
night after night.
