Trees trimmed at
Ronald McDonald House
• By Georgia O’Connor-Harding
SCRUFFY TREES surrounding
the city’s Ronald McDonald
House have been tidied up.
Beaver Tree Service Ltd
donated their time and skills
recently to help trim trees, along
with removing deadwood and
hazardous branches from around
the building.
The company brought smiles
to children at the house with lead
arborist David McKeich climbing
the trees in a beaver suit.
Office manager Belinda Henderson
said it decided to do the
work free of charge after Ronald
McDonald phoned up asking for
a quote to have their trees tidied.
“It means it doesn’t come out of
their budget, they can use it for
something else,” she said.
Beaver also supports social
enterprise and non-profit organisation
B1G1 which helps feed impoverished
children throughout
New Zealand.
In about 2013 the company
sponsored a room at Ronald Mc-
Donald which allowed families to
stay for free.
Director and head arborist
Bryce Robb has also taken part in
the Fight for Christchurch charity
boxing event.
