REDCLIFFS AND Southshore residents will be pleased to see
steps being taken towards a resolution on high flood hazard
management area issues by Christmas (see page 1).
On Monday, the city council approved a draft proposal to
Greater Christchurch Regeneration Minister Megan Woods to
change the wording of the District Plan.
The new wording will make it easier for residents in those
areas to get consent to build new houses or renovate existing
ones, something that has been almost impossible before.
A final proposal will come back to the city council on or
before November 14.
The speed that this draft has come to council and the way the
time line going forward looks, has changed the tune of Darrell
Latham.
The once critical Dr Latham now says the city council is making
the right moves.
