Collective impact
working with partners
The work of WHISE deals with complex social and health issues in the local
community. Responding to these issues requires collaborative effort across a
range of partners and activities. Because of this, WHISE operates under a collective
impact framework comprised of five conditions 5 :
A common agenda
Continuous communication
Participants have a shared vision for
change, including a common understanding
of the problem and a
joint approach to solving it through
agreed upon actions. Stakeholders
within a collective impact initiative
must hold a shared vision for the
initiative that incorporates a joint
understanding of the social issue
that they are trying to affect and
agreement upon actions to be undertaken
to create change
In order to build trust among
collective impact stakeholders,
continuous communication is
required. Consistent and open
communication is needed across
the many players to build trust, assure
mutual objectives, and create
common motivation. This can take
many years
