Annual Report 2017
15
together, we created community change
In 2017, the partnership began the journey of creating community change by:
• Developing an events and planning schedule that outlined the region’s annual
campaigns and events to promote the prevention of violence against
women and their children;
• Advocating for change and raising awareness through a community driven
“16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence” campaign (see pictures
on page 22).
The first year action plan also resulted in the delivery of events to collaborate
with faith communities. A total of six events with a range of faith-based communities
and interfaith networks were held across the region.
And together, we seek to sustain momentum
In order to build on all the work that had been achieved, an internal communications
plan was developed for partner organisations to safely share learnings
and experiences, and promote successes and achievements. Opportunities
were identified to promote the leadership, expertise and collective influence of
the Strategy partner organisations in PVAW&C. Joint funding opportunities were
also proactively identified to implement or scale up regional projects related to
PVAW&C.
enliven is proud to support the Preventing Violence Together
Strategy, being represented at both levels of governance. We
fully support the Strategy’s vision, and acknowledge that in order
to achieve outcomes as ambitious as “system and cultural
change,” that people, groups and organisations from all facets
of the community must be involved.
