HOW WE WORK AND OUR STRATEGIC<br />
DIRECTION<br />
Strategic direction<br />
<strong>WHISE</strong> has three key documents (see Fig 2) that provide the foundations for<br />
its work and drive its strategic direction.<br />
The <strong>WHISE</strong> Strategic Plan 2015-<strong>2018</strong> provides the platform for the organisation’s<br />
work. It empowers the delivery of <strong>WHISE</strong>’s Integrated Health Promotion<br />
Plan (IHP), which was released in early <strong>2018</strong>. The annual Business Plan<br />
outlines how resources will be used on an annual basis to deliver outcomes<br />
defined by the Strategic Plan and IHP.<br />

The Strategic Plan is the backbone of the organisation. It underpins governance<br />
and operations, and ensures that the chosen priorities are sustainable<br />
and needs based.<br />
Approved by the Board of <strong>WHISE</strong> in 2014, the Strategic Plan states the organisation’s<br />
vision (which was first established in 1992) and establishes the<br />
way that this vision will be realised around three strategic goals.<br />
