4 | www.westendermagazine.com Editor’s Letter T he festive edition is here and we’re bursting at the seams with all sorts of useful information to help you navigate this busy and, so often, stressful time of year. Christmas officially starts at the Country Living Christmas Fair at the SEC on the 15th-18th November and we have eight pairs of tickets to be won – see Page 7! There’s a huge variety of different retailers from food and drink to furnishings and decorations to some really unusual gift ideas for people who are very awkward to buy for (thinking of you, Dad). For more inspiration on festive pressies head on to our annual Christmas gift guide on Page 31. This year we’ve covered five whole pages with inspiration from West End gift shops and bespoke local online retailers – it’s amazing what you find gets made in Finnieston! As for things to do this November and December, well, we’re spoiled for choice. With so much going on we’ve broken out of the West End and explored the wider environs of the city centre – well, the Santa Dash is pretty special and all for good causes. What I’m particularly enjoying this edition is Susan Robertson’s interiors articles from Page 56. My kitchen is a functional and at times unloved space – yet we spend so much time there. With a little bit of decluttering and TLC this could be a much more welcoming space for friends and family and I’m feeling inspired to spend a little time and a bit of effort to make it look its best for Christmas. And I do also want to bake Liberty’s Sugar Cookies on Page 46, I know how good they taste. So yes, the cat’s out the bag, I gorge myself on the goodies Liberty bakes for the Sweet Liberty pages – after the shoot of course! Gregor Reid, the Westender photographer, is much worse and can be found scavenging titbits just out of shot whilst shooting. Just don’t tell him I told you so… Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!
