Ironwood’s best selling point, however, is its
riverfront location and direct access to the North
Augusta Greeneway, the city’s
seven-mile urban trail system.
“It’s a built-in amenity for
us, so we can offer something
that nobody else has,” Jackson
said. “We’re really the only
development on the water.”
LIV also is developing similar
apartment communities in
Nashville, Tenn.; Chattanooga,
Tenn.; Charlotte, N.C.; Myrtle
Beach, S.C.; and in its hometown
of Birmingham.
The GreenJackets inaugural
season at the new ballpark
was a success, club Vice
President Tom Denlinger said,
with attendance averaging
around 4,000 people per game.
The club is trying to market the facility in the
off-season to provide year-round entertainment.
“SRP Park is built as a community venue and
It’s a lifestyle
that really no one
things outside baseball,” he said. “We’re open
365 days a year from our Wow
club conference space to renting
the stadium and those kinds of
things. We have fun things in
store.”
Mayor Pettit said he believes
the investment in Riverside
Village will radiate back toward
the city’s older neighborhoods
and central business district.
“I can’t help but believe that
Georgia Avenue and nearby
established residential areas
will experience redevelopment
and new and exciting growth,”
he said. “People are excited
about what’s happening along
the river and throughout North
Augusta. And I’m excited about
the possibilities, and ready to see it happen.” •
NOW IS THE TIME
Vince Lombardi probably said it best: “Individual commitment to a group effort –
that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization
work.” Those words speak volumes when you apply them to Augusta’s downtown.
TOGETHER, we can be part of something remarkable for our city. TOGETHER,
we see the potential. TOGETHER, we know it is within our grasp.
