RELEASING THE POTENTIAL OF VMS
With such a wide choice of feature rich VMS
solutions to choose from, it is easy to be
mesmerised by manufacturers claiming their
platform is the best in terms of current functionality
and user friendliness. However, very near, if not at the
top of the list of priorities when deciding who to
source a VMS from, should be the existence of clear
evidence that the manufacturer has a proven track
record of seeking continual improvement in its
platform by way of responding to changing market
demands.
exacqVision VMS Quarterly Upgrades
Like clockwork, an upgrade of the exacqVision VMS is
released every quarter. The incremental improvements
incorporated within each release generate new
revenue opportunities for system integrators and
ensure end-user expectations are fulfilled by the
delivery of additional real-world practical advantages.
V9.4, the latest upgrade of exacqVision, does just
that.
Individual Password Encryption - V9.4 takes cyber
protection to a higher level with every new password
being individually encrypted. Introduced as a direct
result of feedback from the market, this new feature is
designed for mission critical and high security
applications and is intended to ensure that if a
password falls into the wrong hands, the security of
all other passwords is not affected.
Recent publicised instances of other
manufacturers’ mobile apps enabling unauthorised
access to the wrong video surveillance systems,
underscores the importance of providing exacqVision
users with peace of mind as to the security of their
data. In this respect, exacqVision development
engineers are constantly focussed on the importance
of negating the possibility of firmware issues with any
connected cameras.
Event Monitor Lockdown - A new lockdown feature
ensures notifications cannot be closed down without
any action being taken. Operators will not be able to
inadvertently ignore or miss an alert which pops up on
an event monitor, as it will remain locked onto the
screen until appropriately dealt with.
Trickle Store Back-up - Should there be any
disruption to the network, exacqVision V9.4 is able to
facilitate the retrieval of any video temporarily stored
on a camera’s SD memory card when the connection is
re-established. The video is trickle fed back to an
exacqVision NVR and is automatically stored at the
correct date and time.
Camera Integrations
The exacq development team had been hard at work
and their efforts over recent months has resulted in
several hundred additional cameras being
successfully integrated with exacqVision. At the time
of this article’s publication, there are a total of 3,761
supported cameras and these include virtually every
camera model and type currently being installed in the
UK. These include older generation IP network
cameras, as well as the very latest open platform,
ultra high definition and thermal imaging models.
By proactively integrating cameras from over 60
manufacturers, Exacq has significantly reduced the
time it takes to design, implement and commission a
VMS solution that needs to handle images captured
by a wide variety of cameras.
End-user operational
requirements change,
businesses expand
and new threats
emerge. It is crucial
that Video
Management
Software (VMS),
which is more often
than not placed at
the heart of an
integrated electronic
security solution, is
regularly updated
Exacq VMS is one of the
extensive range of solutions
offered by Tyco, the security
products division of Johnson
Controls
