Hikvision set to open new R&D
facilities in the UK
Hikvision is to add to its current number of
13,000 R&D staff by opening a dedicated UK
and Europe R&D facility at its base in Stockley
Park. The new facility is expected to be in
place in Q1 2019 with a combination of
expertise coming in from China working
alongside home-grown R&D talent.
Furthermore, the development will enable an
expansion of the current technology demo
area at the site.

Vimpex opens new manufacturing
premises in Essex
Vimpex has officially opened its new
manufacturing production facility in Great
Wakering, Essex.
At a special event to mark the opening, local
MPs James Dudderidge and Sir David Amess
paid tribute to company founder Viv Jones, his
family and team on the success of the company
so far and its contribution to employment and
business in the area.
Managing Director James Jones told PSI: “We
really want to have a platform from which to
grow and that will come from manufacturing our
own products. Our belief is that if we can
manufacture more of the items we sell then this
will be complementary to everything else that
we distribute. Furthermore, because we had a
blank canvas (only seven months ago the
factory area was part of a warehouse) we have
been able to design all of the production cells
so that everything flows efficiently and is
exactly how we want it. All in all, the new facility
allows us to manufacture kit much more
competitively for the market than we could if we
had to import it.
“We are open to business from OEMs and for
panel manufacturers who might not want to
produce their own systems but want something
branded or bespoke and we have the footprint
here to grow over the coming years without
needing too much further investment – in fact
we aim to get our turnover to £10m in five years.

Vigilant Solutions announces
Edesix acquisition
Vigilant Solutions has announced that it has
entered the body worn camera market by
acquiring UK manufacturer Edesix. The
acquisition adds body worn camera images via
hardware and software and in-car camera
technology to Vigilant’s suite of automated
license plate recognition (ALPR), facial
recognition, ballistics analysis and gun crime
mapping hardware and software solutions.
“Vigilant Solutions is excited to enter the
body worn and in-car camera markets,” said
Shawn Smith, Founder and President of
Vigilant Solutions. “This acquisition puts
Vigilant in the position to offer public safety a
full suite of image capture solutions – both in
the U.S. and internationally – including the
ability to integrate our suite of technologies
with in-car cameras. Edesix has a strong global
footprint, which includes more than 20,000
body camera deployments across several
industries and five continents.”
