RIDE OF
YOUR LIFE
Hold on tight boys and girls, because
we’re taking you through some of the
world’s steepest roller coasters for the
ultimate screamfest of your lives
01
TAKABISHA
Tokyo
Japan’s Fuji-Q Highland Amusement
Park is widely known for their
high-octane, adrenaline-pumping
roller coasters, and one that stands
out is the Takabisha – literally. You’ll
be able to spot the twists and turns
of this structure from a distance
away, which will likely incite either a
gasp of fear or squeal of excitement.
The Takabisha even clinched a world
record as the world’s steepest falling
angle at 121 degrees. With speeds of
100 km/hr in a mere two seconds,
this is not for the faint-hearted.
GREEN LANTERN
COASTER
Gold Coast
Not to be outdone, the Gold Coast’s
Warner Bros. Movie World houses a
rollercoaster of equally exhilarating
proportions. The Green Lantern ride,
themed after the favourite DC
Comics character, boasts the
steepest inverted drop in the
Southern Hemisphere alongside
sharp and unpredictable turns. Sure,
it might have a slightly lower speed
than the Takabisha at 66 km/hr, but
its death-defying degree is still
unparalleled to many others. We
wonder what The Flash has to say
about this.
CRAZY BIRD
Tianjin
While the Takabisha and Green
Lantern Coaster both offer riders
scenic outdoor views at breakneck
speeds and angles, the four-seater
Crazy Bird in Happy Valley Tianjin gives
indoor sights. The 120-degree dive
right from the get-go is just a prelude
to the remaining mayhem of loops
and inline twists, and at only 70
seconds, riders will undoubtedly want
to go for seconds. Crazy Bird is also
one of the only El Loco-style coasters
in the world, so you can check that off
your bucket list after catching your
breath, of course.
Minimum height requirement:
140 cm
TOPSY TURVY TIPS
Heed these safety
guidelines for the best
theme park experiences!
Slow and steady
Start slowly with coasters
without 360-degree loops
and sudden turns to avoid
giving both your body and
mind a shock.
Ease it, not quease it
Don’t rush to the coasters
after a hearty meal – head
to the shops or watch the
parades instead to allow
for digestion first.
Bare minimal
Tie your hair up, ditch the
accessories, and take your
shoes off; having loose
articles of clothing on puts
you at risk of injury or loss.
