Fun fact: In 2011, CNN listed roti prata as one of the
world’s 50 most delicious food items that should be
tried at least once in a lifetime, calling it “a flipping
great dish”!
Roti means “bread”, and prata means “flat.” A good
prata should be soft inside while crispy outside. CNN
said it well - “Roti prata is flipped and turned and
flipped again before it’s heated over a grill plate. Its
preparation is so theatrical that you’ll feel like dancing
a jig while you’re eating it.”
Egg prata is the most common variant of the plain
prata, which is usually served with mutton curry,
chicken curry, daal (lentil stew), or fish curry.
F.EAST (Flavours of the East) is an innovative
Singaporean start-up that recently created the world’s
first Egg Prata with Fish Curry potato chips. For its
earlier flavours (Hainanese Chicken Rice and Singapore
Laksa), F.EAST won the “Best New Brand” award at the
Asia Food Innovations Awards 2018.
