District Court next month after
have been targeting bars and
hotels in an effort to crack
DISCUSSIONS ARE ongoing as
to who will pay to sort out the
footpath and cycleway outside
The Warehouse in Rolleston.
The footpath and cycleway on
Masefield Drive disappear as the
road narrows around a bend.
A meeting took place between
one of the developers and the
district council on Thursday.
The district council and
the developers of Rolleston
Square, where The Warehouse
is sited, have been at odds over
which should pay to fix the problem.
District council chief executive
David Ward has told Selwyn
Times it considers the developers
have responsibilities to resolve the
down on drink driving.
The man, who
is from Auckland,
recorded a breath
alcohol reading of
1438mcg/l. The legal
limit is 250mcg/l for
someone 20-years-old
and over.
Senior Constable
Andy Williamson (above) said
current situation to avoid costs
having to be met by ratepayers.
Rolleston Square director Lloyd
Bathurst said he did not attend
the meeting which was over road
widening, kerb and channel, a
footpath and cycleway.
Mr Ward said discussions are
continuing to take place between
council and other parties involved
about who is responsible and
which will pay.
“Roading engineers have commenced
planning and design for
the works. The work is planned to
be completed by the end of
February 2019,” he said.
Rolleston Residents’ Association
chairwoman Leonie MacLachlan
said two weeks ago her personal
view was that it needs to be sorted
so it’s safe for everyone.
a member of the public saw the
man driving on Gerald St
in Lincoln after drinking
at a local bar and reported
it to police.
The man stopped
himself and police
processed him for
drink driving shortly
afterwards.
Senior Constable Williamson
said he the man was “clearly
intoxicated” but he was “a little
surprised” his breath alcohol
reading was as high as it was.
He said in spite of the
crackdown, police have not
seen as much of a drop in the
number of drink drivers as
they would like.
“Drivers are still getting caught,”
Senior Constable Williamson said.
Masefield Drive discussions ongoing
PATH TO NOWHERE: The district council and developers
are still in discussions about who is responsible for this part of
Rolleston’s Masefield Drive.
