J. Gaynor, 83, of Northbrook,
died Nov. 30.
He was the beloved husband
of Jo Ann nee Mass
for 43 years; loving father
to Brooke (Keith) Day,
Melissa (Robert) Mastros,
Nicole (John) Butler,
Brittney Gaynor (Fiance
Brian Kaminski) and
Courtney Gaynor; dear
brother of the late Donald
Goldstein and devoted son
of the late Rose and Robert
Goldstein; uncle of
Barry (Marcy) Goldstein,
Robert (Darya) Goldstein,
and Cindy (Robert) Stein;
very proud grandfather
to Jack, Graham, Luke,
Parker, Reese, Charlotte,
Brody, Hailey, and Chase.
Gaynor was born and
raised in Brooklyn, New
York. He went on to serve
in the Korean War and was
honorably discharged in
1963. He was transferred
to Chicago and started his
career with Tishman Midwest
Management.
Gaynor was a lover of
anything war and anything
red, a fighter, a talker, a
toilet paper and pillow
connoisseur and a lifelong
Cubs and Dodgers
fan. His collection for war
movies was unmatched;
it was his passion. Coffee
ice cream, baseball
games, New York cheesecake
and Gray Flannel
were high on his list of favorite
things. Always the
life of the party, his happiness
was telling stories
about his life and he lived
one hell of one.
Of all the people he
touched, both willing and
unwilling, he was definitely
most proud of his wife
Jo Ann and his five daughters,
while supporting him
in all his glory during
his heyday, and lovingly
guided him during their
last days together.
Everyone who remembers
Gaynor is asked
to celebrate his life in
their own way, by raising
a glass in his memory
would be most appropriate.
“In any event”, Stan
was the man.
Services and Interment:
private with a celebration
of Stanley’s life at a later
date.
