Gossett Jr at<br />
the Atlanta City hall for his<br />
achievement in the movie<br />
industry.<br />
Mr. Gossett, Jr. made his<br />
professional acting debut at the<br />
age of 17 and has appeared in<br />
179 films and Television shows<br />
since, winning numerous awards.<br />
He was presented with a Phoenix<br />
Award from the Office of the<br />
Mayor. Gossett has done several<br />
projects in Atlanta and now his<br />
ties to the city are even deeper.<br />
He says he just sold his Malibu<br />
home and moved to Atlanta<br />
where his grandmother who was<br />
a slave, had a farm. He and his<br />
siblings used to work in the farm<br />
growing up.<br />
Several Atlanta city council<br />
members honor Actor Louis<br />
Gossett, Jr. for his contributions<br />
to the entertainment industry as<br />
an African-American performer.<br />
During Monday's City Council<br />
meeting, Councilman Matt<br />
Westmoreland made a<br />
proclamation declaring Oct. 1<br />
“Louis Gossett Jr. Day”<br />
Also, at the same event, a<br />
prominent Ghanaian Lawyer,<br />
Assimah in a jaw-dropping and<br />
congratulatory oratory presented<br />
a painting to Louis Gossett Jr. on<br />
behalf of Ghanaians in Diaspora<br />
for his great contributions in<br />
critically acclaim movies like<br />
Roots that told the story of<br />
Africans journey to America and<br />
the black American ancestry.
