Editor’s Statement
Empowering people of color to pursue their
entrepreneurial goals, however ambitious,
is the central objective of the Black Owned
Businesses (B.O.B.) Magazine. We strive to
provide to people of color of all nationality,
culture, race and ethnic background, all the
essential knowledge required to become
successful in all their endeavors.
We will present the journey of successful
people of color as an example for aspiring
entrepreneurs of color to follow.
We can assure our readers that we will be
committed to providing them with accurate
news of successful entrepreneurs.
We will strive to avoid all prejudice and/or
favoritism, thus advocating accurate
knowledge and experiences that will invariably
lead to success.

PREFACE
The Concept of B.O.B. Magazine is to highlight
the progress of our business people of
color in all walks of life all around the planet.
This magazine is about reporting and empowering
young entrepreneurs who see
themselves as the future black business owners.
The sterling examples of successful people of
color are among some of the most powerful
motivational forces for those of the younger
generation.
By carefully emulating those examples, the
younger generation of people of color will be
motivated to become law-abiding and outstanding
citizen within their community.
Especially in the field of the Arts, Musical,
Culinary, Theater, Farming, Government, Politics
and the pioneer of our cultures
Past, present and future.

Sister Nancy was only (3)three
years old , as she was born January,

Toots still looks the same way
he was, when that song was
released in 1965 !
We are still not sure if the song
was recorded before 1965
when it was released. One
thing for sure, this song is an
anthem for many, including

A star in America was born with
the opening of her Jamaican and Caribbean
Restaurant ‘’Nyamm “N”
Jam’’ in Miramar FL at the border of
Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. As Employer
and Business Woman, Miss
Pitter totally devotes herself in making
sure that the door is always wide
open to kinfolk who love to eat Caribbean
food . She is a master chef., a
devoted Christian , a mother and

We had a big big laugh about it .
The ever beautiful, warm, kind and
unselfish lady is proud to announce
that her Restaurant has a $3.99 daily
special on all chicken dishes. She
says people from all Nations must
eat, Jamaican and Caribbean food.
You really need to try her fish! It is
the bomb!
And I personally must tell you that
when I eat at ‘’Nyamm “n” jam ‘’
her food, reminds me of grandma’s
country style cooking. You will be licking

Angela Benjamin
former early 90’s Miss St.
Kitts National Swimsuit
competition Winner.
A model in her own
rights, she is a very special
lady who has a keen
eye for fashion and
trends. She founded the
‘Mesmerize Fashion
Show’ to highlight fashion
from St. Kitts in particular,
and the Caribbean and
America, in general. She
also has great plans for
the African designers at
home and abroad in
showcasing their work in
2019 and beyond. The
2018 show was a successful event and Miss Benjamin showed how much Trinidad,
Jamaica, St. Kitts and American designer David Harrell,of Harrells Fashions
based on University Drive in Ft. Lauderdale, had to offer. The community poured
out in droves to support this memorable show which featured speakers, dancers
and models of all ages and sizes. She said that Mesmerize 2019 will be bigger
and better and is scheduled to be held at the Portabella Hall . B.O.B. Magazine ..

The wish of Kwame Nkrumah has finally come true that one
day Africans in the diaspora will return to their ancestral
home. Land is being given in Ghana to members of the African
diaspora who live in the West in order to attract them to
the continent.
August 20, 2019 will mark the 400th anniversary of God’s
chosen people who were forced to the west under oppression
degradation, frustration, confusion and into ….Slavery.
Slavery remains the fundamental embodiment of pure evil.
The physical, economical, psychological scourge of over 80
million Africans and their descendants remains with us today.
Our ancestors were sold into this horrific economic philosophy
of subjugation and atrocity and millions worked, lived
and died without experiencing any other way to live. This
economic mainstay which continues to unleash havoc on the
minds and psyches of our people is still ever-present. Enslaved
Africans were taken through Ghana’s gate of no return
.
Kwame Nkrumah the father of Ghana is clearly looking down
from amongst the galaxy of stars with a big smile knowing his
vision for Africa is finally manifesting.
The African Union must be encouraged to take all western
metropoles which were the main proponents and authors and
organizers of the destabilization of Africans into Slavery to
the Hague International court of justice. Top on the agenda
should be the African children who still are now known by the
names of their slave masters. These descendants of Africans
need to be compensated for the 400 years of forced labor
and indignities meted to us as a people so that we have a solid
foundation built from the sweat of our forbears who were
never paid for their centuries of work and abuse and such
compensation would now ensure that their collective forced
labor was never in vain. turn and many descendants have never
touched the soil of their Ancestral home until now.
What is pleasing also is that professional, teachers, lawyers,
doctors, professors, tradespeople, engineers, musicians and
media practitioners are increasing in numbers on this pilgrimage
to the Motherland.

South Florida naturopathic practitioner
and herbalist, Nelcia Salmon
is a vibrant and bright eyed entrepreneur
who is glowing with health.
She is a quiet person who listens
well and smiles easily when the
news is good. And if it is not, her
customers will tell you that she is
empathetic, caring and always provides
a comforting ear. Early seeds
of love of all things natural and organic
were planted in her heart from
her youth.
Born in London, England, her parents
returned to their native Kingston,
Jamaica when she was 3 years old.
She can regale you with the sights,
sounds and smells of the places
where she has called home because
Nelcia is a multi-cultural person. She
is also abiding evidence that there is
an education which one gets from
experiencing just a little bit more of
the world, and having lived in England,
Canada, Jamaica and the Bahamas
as well as the United States, at
various periods of her life, Nelcia
shows a keen ability to observe and
diagnose a problem, always with a
view to solving it to the best of her
ability.
‘ I have always had a healthy respect
for farmers and people who live close
to the earth’s bounty. People who
nurture and care for the soil and in
turn are blessed. That is how we
should eat and live. It might cost us a
little more, but it is worthwhile,’’ she
opined.
She detailed memories of
how her mother would rise
early on Saturday mornings
to go to the Papine or Coronation
Market to buy fresh
produce for the family when
she was growing up in Jamaica.
She described the
lush green vegetables, callaloo
and cabbage, bright and
dark red beets and fresh
ground provisions, pungent
and aromatic scallion and
thyme, flavorful scotchbonnet
peppers, the sundrenched
and happy bright
yellow pumpkins which
would always remain cheerful
in the Saturday soup.
Peas, beans and all legumes
were highly favored at
her home and it was the
norm to eat straight from the
farm to the table. She recollected
the good cornmeal
porridge and soups which
she ate growing up and how
supportive our diet then,
was to our bodies.
Nelcia graduated from the St Andrew
High School and did not have
to think about a career. Her older sister
was a fine example who had
studied Pharmacology and worked at
Medical Associates Hospital so it
was easy to follow in her footsteps
by graduating from the then College
of Arts, Science and Technology as
a Pharmacist at age 21. Armed with
her profession, she applied her usual
diligence and observation to her craft
and noticed how at the beginning of
each year, one patient would come
with a prescription and by year-end,
that same patient would have more
prescriptions for more drugs. She
quickly realized that the doctors
would be treating the side-effects
from the original prescription which
would cause even more medical issues,
and, in a desperate bid to control
the situation, the poor patient
would find that instead of getting better,
they were actually getting worse
with newer maladies and more money
needed in order to fill the growing
list of prescriptions.

Nelcia knew that there
had to be a better way.
Searching for answers
and alternatives she became
an active member of
the American Academy of
Anti Aging Medicine
(A4M) as well as becoming
certified in Complementary
and Alternative
Medicine.
‘The air we breathe, the
food we eat, the chemicals
we unwittingly take in
our bodies, and sometimes,
under the guise of
medicine, as well as the
ever-present stress, all
contribute towards our ill
health. Many people are
now beginning to seek a
more natural and plant
based approach to health
and supplementation by
detoxing the body, boosting
the immune system
and nourishing it well…
people are depending less
on drugs alone.’’ she explained.
‘If you occasionally
detox your liver, kidneys
and colon your general
health experience will improve.’’
Nelcia’s Nuggets
When asked to share
some major pointers with
our readers which would
help us to live a more
healthy life, she willingly
gave the following.
1. Diet and nutrition are all important.
One should detox once or twice per
year. Those of us who grew up in the
Caribbean are familiar with the washout
after mango season when it is
time to go back to school in September.
Our old folk were onto something
good and we should follow this
advice.
2. Take good quality iron and vitamins
as supplements.
3. Cut back on animal protein and
animal fat.
4. As far as possible, eat organic
and avoid processed foods.
5. Drink alkaline water. This helps
neutralize excess acids. An
acidic body is an unhealthy
body.
