The new agriculture policy envisions doubling of<br />
farmers’ incomes and increasing the share of agricultural<br />
exports from about US$ 30 billion to over US$ 60<br />
billion by the year 2022<br />

Focus on N-E<br />
The event witnessed the presence of<br />
50+ international buyers from over<br />
20 countries across the world, who<br />
generated an all-time high business<br />
of Rs 47 crore. A total number of<br />
170 business appointments were<br />
accomplished and the event managed<br />
to achieve promising goals over three<br />
days.<br />
The event was marked by the colocation<br />
of Natural Expo India with<br />
Biofach India. The initiative was a<br />
huge success and saw the presence<br />
of players who exhibited an array of<br />
natural and wellness products.<br />
It also witnessed the culmination<br />
of various business deals and<br />
created a conducive environment for<br />
investment opportunities, networking<br />
and building new contacts. The event<br />
painted a positive picture of the Indian<br />
organic products by flaunting more of<br />
an international character.<br />
Marked by a high footfall this year,<br />
the event highlighted the fact that the<br />
organic industry in India is resilient<br />
and poised for great transformation<br />
in the coming years.<br />
Several private companies,<br />
government boards, states and<br />
certification bodies were seen<br />
participating and exhibiting their<br />
products, right from food and<br />
beverage to natural care and wellness<br />
to the textiles sectors.<br />
Among all the state pavilions that<br />
showcased their products, the North-<br />
Eastern states stood out as organic<br />
farming is gaining momentum in<br />
these states and they are emerging<br />
as the hub of Indian organic farm<br />
products.<br />
The occasion also had a special area,<br />
Farmer’s Market, themed ‘Organic for<br />
my Plate and Palate’, which displayed<br />
all fresh organic products grown by<br />
the farmers.<br />
Knowledge exchange<br />
Besides hosting products par<br />
excellence, creating a businessfriendly<br />
atmosphere, organising<br />
buyers-sellers meet and ideal<br />
networking platform, the event<br />
also witnessed several knowledge<br />
sessions that were well-received by<br />
the delegates.<br />
The technical sessions that featured<br />
key national and international<br />
speakers from the organic industry,<br />
reflected on the current practices,<br />
trends and challenges faced by the<br />
organic sector. The ‘Organic Farmers<br />
Conference’ organized by OFAI kept<br />
the audience glued with the narration<br />
of the success stories of farmers<br />
practicing organic farming from all<br />
across India.<br />
Commenting on the success of the<br />
event, Mr P.K. Borthakur, Chairman<br />
of APEDA said, “The international<br />
buyers, apart from showing interest<br />
in Indian organic products, were also<br />
found engaging in interaction with<br />
Indian companies and farmers and<br />
exchanging information, resources<br />
and knowledge about agricultural<br />
practices and commodities.”<br />
For more than 10 years Biofach India<br />
has been the prominent platform<br />
for the organic sector in India and<br />
emerged as a confluence point where<br />
various national and international<br />
stakeholders freely exchange their<br />
knowledge and connect with experts<br />
from across the continent and around<br />
the world.<br />

The Biofach family of events spread<br />
across the globe in countries like<br />
Japan, the United States, South<br />
America, China and India, and brings<br />
over 3,000 exhibitors and 1,00,000<br />
