Players flock to giant
outdoor arcade game

LAST YEAR, more than
five million aliens were
destroyed on the corner of
Tuam and High Sts.
Those aliens were part
of a giant outdoor arcade
game set up by Gap Filler
called Super Street Arcade.
Figures released recently
showed the game was
played 127,475 times last
year.
The cold did not deter
keen players, with the most
popular day being in the
middle of winter, on June
10, when a little less than
1000 games were played in
one day.
This was closely followed
on December 19, with 963
games played.
The game, which is
the first of its kind in
the world, is similar to a
space invaders, but has
been adapted with a local
spin.
