I would like to congratulate Adhika Inc, Plaza Filipino Inc. and Narra Cooperative
Ltd for this fantastic initiative. It is wonderful to have such an event
like the Pamana Ball 2019, which aims to bridge the generational gap between
the present and emerging generations of Filipino-Australians, honouring
Ambassadors for Culture and Arts, as well as Youth Ambassadors. This
project is vital to ensure the continued strength of this dynamic community
for generations to come. I also congratulate the Ambassadors for Culture &
Arts as well as Youth Ambassadors, whose achievements will be honoured at
the Pamana Ball 2019.
Adhika’s educational projects in the Philippines are a testament to their
continued investment in, and support of, Filipino youth and deserve
the highest praise. I would like to applaud Plaza Filipino/Narra Co-op’s
fundraising for a cultural centre for Filipinos in Sydney. Such a project will no
doubt strengthen ties between Filipino Australians and the wider community.
This is a truly exciting chapter for Plaza Filipino and Narra Co-op and I look
forward to continuing to support both organisations into the future.
The Macarthur region is truly lucky to have such a vibrant Filipino-Australian
community, who contribute to the diversity and prosperity of our society. I
wish to thank them for their ongoing contributions to our community, well
as congratulating them for the strong emphasis placed on the role of the
family unit in our society. I again commend the goals of Pamama Ball, it is
admirable that such value is placed on the importance of culture and the arts.
I would urge everyone to support the tremendous work of Adhika, Inc, Narra
Co-op Ltd and Plaza Filipino Inc.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Mike Freelander
Federal Member for Macarthur
I am honoured to write this celebratory message for the Pamana Ball 2019.
Firstly, I congratulate the NARRA Co-Op Ltd, Plaza Filipino Inc and
Adhika Inc for their continued work throughout our community, and in
particular their efforts in organising the Pamana Ball 2019.
The Pamana Ball is a great opportunity for the community to acknowledge
and celebrate the achievements, contributions and rich culture of
the Filipino community in our region, particularly young Filipino-
Australians.
The Filipino-Australian community is one of the most vibrant, engaging
communities in our society, with a strong family-oriented focus. The
Pamana Ball 2019 allows us to take the time to celebrate this rich culture
and the benefits it brings to our nation.
The Macarthur region is one of the most diverse, multicultural
communities in all of Sydney, and the Filipino community plays an
integral role in making Campbelltown such a wonderful place to live,
work and raise a family.
Once again, I thank the NARRA Co-Op Ltd, Plaza Filipino Inc and
Adhika Inc for organising the fantastic Pamana Ball 2019.
Pagbati at salamat sa lahat ng mga kabataan.
The Philippine Embassy is one with you in your aspiration to
bridge the gap between the present and emerging generations of
Filipino-Australians.
I encourage you to continue your goal of helping our Kababayans
in the Philippines through Adhika’s education projects and in
creating a cultural center for Filipinos in Sydney.
Again, congratulations and Mabuhay po kayo!
MA. HELLEN B. DE LA VEGA
Canberra, December 2018
I wish to convey my sincerest congratulations to Narra Co-op
Ltd., Adhika Inc., and Plaza Filipino for organizing the Pamana
Ball 2019 and Recognition Night for the “Ambassadors of
Culture and the Arts”.
Pamana Ball 2019’s aim to build the gap between generations
of Filipino-Australians is a very worthy endeavor. Your
Philippines is very commendable. Your vision of building a
cultural centre for the Filipino community is an important
legacy to all those of Filipino heritage in Australia.
I hope that you continue to foster an appreciation of Philippine
culture among our Australian friends as well as linking the
different generations of Filipino-Australians here in New South
Wales.
Mabuhay!
Consul General

It is an honour to be involved in the Pamana Ball 2019 and its recognition
of the Filipino-Australian ambassadors for culture, arts and youth
ambassadors.
Congratulations to Adhika Inc, NARRA Cooperative Ltd and Plaza Filipino
Inc on hosting this event which is a fitting celebration of our Filipino
community and its cultural contribution to our community.
We are pleased to be home to the Philippine-Australian Arts, Culture and
Innovation Central which provides an extraordinary look into the art,
music and literature traditions of this unique culture. This facility provides
a performance space and cultural centre and is a real asset to the whole
community.
I’m pleased that money raised through the Pamana Ball will go towards the
ongoing operation of this facility and to Adhika Inc’s education projects
in the Philippines. Given this event aspires to leave a legacy to future
generations of Filipinos, I can’t think of two more worthy recipients of your
fundraising activities.
I would also like to acknowledge and applaud the ambassadors for culture
and the arts, and the youth ambassadors being honoured. They should
be very proud of their contribution to the Filipino community, and more
widely.
On behalf of Campbelltown City Council, I congratulate everyone involved
in organising tonight’s event and wish you every success for this celebration
and for the year ahead.
Cr George Brticevic
Mayor of Campbelltown
Warmest greetings and congratulations to Adhika, Inc., Plaza Filipino and
Narra Co-operative as you hold your Pamana Ball 2019, a community
project worthy of commendation for its vision of bridging the gap between
the present and emerging generations of Filipino-Australians by honoring
Ambassadors for Culture & Arts, as well as Youth Ambassadors.
I would like to sincerely thank the organizers for passionately and consistently
doing this activity year after year and for supporting education projects in the
Philippines, as well as the continued fundraising work for the establishment
of a cultural centre for Filipinos in Sydney.
The Department of Trade and Industry in Australia is keen on supporting
the concerted efforts in preserving and promoting our Filipino culture for
the appreciation of present and future generations, keeping in mind that
advancing creative activities rooted in culture and the arts also have the
potential to contribute economically and provide employment to a large
number of people. Indeed, the creative economy sector is something that we
wish to support not only in recognition of its growing importance to our
economy but for its power to project Filipino culture and influence around
the world.
Again, congratulations and I salute the members, organizers and honorees of
Pamana Ball 2019 for your remarkable effort and commitment in advancing
our unique Filipino culture, a beautiful “pamana” to future generations of
Filipinos.
(SGD) ALMA F. ARGAYOSO
Special Trade Representative and Consul (Commercial)
On behalf of the Filipino Communities Council of Australia, Inc.
(FILCCA) I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to the
Adhika group, Inc , NARRA Co-op Ltd Plaza Filipino Inc. for their
continued commitment to showcase and celebrate Filipino culture
and achievements through the annual Pamana Ball.
I wish to acknowledge your ongoing leadership and the efforts of
the many volunteers who make such an event possible and create an
opportunity to recognise the contributions of our Filipino community
to Australia, particularly the achievements and contributions of young
Filipinos.
Filipinos now represent the sixth largest ethnic community in
Australia, and NSW the home to the vast majority, with double the
population of any other state. It is highly commendable that such
an initiative demonstrates the values of our culture and facilitates
an ongoing commitment to providing educational assistance to our
young people in the Philippines to help them achieve their aspirations.
Congratulations and Mabuhay ang Filipinas!
Yours sincerely
CARMEN GARCIA
President, Filipino Communities Council of Australia (FILCCA)
10 January 2019
First of all, I would like to thank you all for attending this magnificent
event. I would also wish to convey my heartfelt congratulations to the
event’s organisers, Adhika Inc., Plaza Filipino Inc. and Narra Co-operative
for hosting an activity that supports the Filipino community, its culture
and arts.
Education is one of the most important but unfortunately expensive
commodities in the Philippines that is sometimes out of reach for its
citizens. Your attendance and contributions here today are pivotal in
ensuring that people are afforded the opportunity to build a more certain
future through study and education. Proceeds from this event will go
towards supporting Adhika Inc.’s education project in the Philippines
as well as fund raising for the development of a cultural center for
Filipinos here in Sydney. The success of this event is a commendable
accomplishment of your organisations and will assist in bridging the gap
between the present and the emerging Filipinos, not only here in Australia
but in the Philippines as well.
I am a true and firm believer that with education comes knowledge and
with knowledge comes power. Through your efforts, you are giving the
emerging generations of the Filipino community an opportunity to have
access to education that would have been otherwise out of their reach.
Congratulations once again and God bless you all.
Mabuhay tayong lahat.
It gives me great pleasure to congratulate NARRA and Plaza
Filipino for organizing another year of the PAMANA Ball 2019
honouring distinguished Filipino Australian achievers who are
this year’s Ambassadors and Youth Ambassadors for Culture
and the Arts.
This event highlights the heritage and the legacy the honorees
bring to the Filipino Australian community and to its next
generation. As Ambassadors, they exemplify the Filipino values
and traditions to the Australian society. They make us proud of
their remarkable achievements and the contributions they bring
to our country of birth and to this wonderful nation we now call
home, Australia.
On behalf of APCO Inc. I am delighted to offer our support
and I would like to wish the organisers and the honorees great
success for the big event.
President
Alliance of Philippine Community Organisations, Inc. (APCO)
It is my great pleasure to convey my heartfelt greetings and congratulations
to the 2019 Ambassadors for Culture and the Arts. This event is also called
PAMANA Ball, an annual event organized jointly by Narra Cooperative,
Plaza Filipino and Adhika, three community groups that embraces
profoundly the advancement of Filipino Heritage through culture and
the arts. In the same way as a fundraising campaign to support the
establishment of ACI Central building and to fund other charity projects.
I commend the support of the 2019 ambassadors for without these
wonderful ladies & gentlemen, young and adult supporters of the program,
we will not be here tonight. Similarly the hardwork of the organizing team
headed by Dr. Jimmy Lopez together with the expertise of Chi de Jesus as
Creative Director and other members of the working committees, I am
therefore most grateful to you all.
This event reflects the desire of the supporters of the legacy program of
ACI aiming to achieve our long awaited Fil-Oz cultural centre, which
would mean so much to the young generation and will cherish your
contributions as ambassadors forever.
Finally on behalf of Adhika Inc, I wish you all a very enjoyable night
full of love, faith and hope in achieving our DREAM, the PAMANA, an
Innovation and Cultural Centre building for Filipino- Australians.
Mabuhay tayong lahat!
Greetings!
I am very happy to welcome you all to the Pamana Ball 2019 and Recognition
Night for Ambassador for Culture and the Arts 2019.
We congratulate all the honourees, especially Dante Dela Cruz and Grace
Canaveral in the Adult Ambassadors Group and also to Bobby Harrison and
Raychelle Morcilla in the Young Ambassadors Group, for their efforts to
make Pamana Ball 2019 a success.
Last year was the 15th Anniversary of Plaza Filipino Inc and the 10th
Anniversary of Global Ilocanos Australia Inc. We had successful joint events
with Plaza Filipino, Adhika Inc. and Global Ilocanos Australia Inc. in 2018.
We had the Pamana Ball recognition night for the Ambassador for Culture
and the Arts in February, Tuloy Po Kayo in June, Tribute to Fathers and
Mothers in September and the Rise Up Concert in October 2018.
Our special thank you to our 2018 Gold Legacy Supporter Grace Canaveral;
Silver Legacy Supporters namely Aida Basto, Emma Braceros, Josephine de los
Reyes, Ed and Violy Escultura, Carmelita Fraser, Carol Manaloto, Josephine
Tada; to our Bronze Legacy Supporters namely Jesusa Agcaoili, Dorothy
Del Villar, Filipino Women Support Group, Mercy Lockwood, Gerard Musa,
Florita Rontidis, Santiago Saludo; and to our Kapit Bisig Legacy Supporters.
(Sgd) Jaime R Lopez, CPA, PhD
President
We are delighted to once again host the annual Pamana Ball and Recognition
Night for our 2019 Ambassador for Culture & The Arts.
On behalf of Plaza Filipino, I would like to extend my warmest gratitude to Consul
General Maria Teresa Taguiang for gracing our event and to all our volunteers
and performers who have committed their time and talent to be with us tonight.
Volunteerism is the community’s biggest challenge and it’s not a problem that
will go away. Each year, as the Filipino migrant population grows in Australia,
so too will the need for community volunteers to help each other and support
our endeavours to preserve our Philippine culture and arts in our new home,
Australia.
To that end, we invite you to make it your new year’s resolution to help NARRA,
Plaza Filipino and Adhika to achieve our goals, including the ongoing support of
ACI Central, our very own community centre.
To our community leaders, we want to thank you for your tireless support. Your
commitment is even more critical as we see the next generation of Filipinos
slowly but surely lose their connection to the past – a cultural heritage that is
worth keeping and showcasing.
To our honorees, you have gone a step further, making it possible for us to forge
on and launch our activity calendar, a hotbed of new ideas and workshops aimed
at helping the personal and professional development of our honorees, Legacy
members and their family and friends.
Last, thank you to my Narra, Plaza Filipino, Flagcom and Adhika family, with
Dr. Jaime Lopez, Josefina Musa, Albert Prias and Charles Chan. We also want to
thank Chi de Jesus for designing this year’s event and program.
We hope 2019 brings you and your family more joy and blessings. Mabuhay!
community by running basketball ‘social games’ to maintain the spirit of the league and community through a more casual
and family-focused setting.
