Aida Arosa Basto<br />
Aida was born in Polangui, Albay but grew up in Mandaluyong City. She holds a Bachelor<br />
of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines-Diliman and<br />
Philippine School of Business Administration-Manila.<br />
She worked at San Miguel Corporation-Makati and was Accounts Officer at Lion’s Court<br />
Tailoring in Quezon City.<br />
In Australia, she was employed in Sales, Administration and Production Department of<br />
Plastiflex Australia Pty. Ltd. She earned Certificates in Financial Services and Real Estate.<br />
Aida loves dancing and an active member of Kayumanggi Cultural Dancers, Marie & Friends<br />
Line Dancers and Dancing-4-Fun. She enjoys singing, a member of PLCAA Glee Club and<br />
various Church choirs.<br />
She is the current President of PLCAA, Philippine Language and Cultural Association of<br />
Australia. She is a member of UPAAA-NSW Chapter.<br />
She was the creator, producer and Event Chairperson of Mano Po Lolo, Mano Po Lola, a cultural<br />
masterpiece in PLCAA Tri-Event in 2011.<br />
Rossana Dizon Estanislao<br />
Roxan, as she is fondly called by friends, arrived in Australia with her husband, Rodrigo Estanislao, on Anzac<br />
Day, 25 April 1979. A former teacher in the Philippines, Roxan worked full time with Australia Post in 1981.<br />
In July 1994, after 13 years of service Roxan accepted the Voluntary Early Retirement package. A few months<br />
after retiring from Australia Post, began to work part time work with National Australia Bank, Brookvale.<br />
Since 1981, she had been involved with the Filipino community. Roxan is one of the founding members of<br />
the FILCOS (Filipino Catholic Organization in Sydney) Inc., North Shore Chapter. The vision of Fr. Renato<br />
Paras, the founding “Father” of FILCOS North Shore (FNS) continues to be realized: the promotion of<br />
Filipino Christian values and spiritual uplift. Roxan holds different titles under the FNS, officer and cultural<br />
dancer. She is an energetic, dedicated and very enthusiastic officer and members of FNS. Her belief and<br />
special gifts are brought to vibrant life through her thirty seven years of voluntary work with the Filipino<br />
Catholic Organization of Sydney, North Shore Chapter<br />
As customer service adviser at NAB, a member the Rotary Club, Stuart Reeves nominated and awarded<br />
Roxan “Pride of Workmanship Award Acceptance” on 29 March 2010 for her congeniality and commendable<br />
service.<br />
Roxan retired from NAB after 23 years to have more time to visit her sick mother in the Philippines. Her<br />
life with NAB had been challenging and colourful that helped her to be more focused and positive each day.<br />
Her love to assist NAB customers and her voluntary work in FILCOS helped her fill the gap of her love for<br />
teaching.<br />
Carmelita N. Fraser<br />
Carmen as she is fondly called by friends was born in Pampanga. Her parents are Crispin and Eufracia Nulud. A classroom teacher<br />
by profession, Carmen finished her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in the Philippine Normal College, Manila in 1969. After<br />
graduation she was Elementary School Teacher in Don Bosco Makati and in Lourdes School Mandaluyong. In 1986, he met and<br />
married Gordon Thomas Fraser of Scottish decent.<br />
While waiting for her qualification as primary school teacher in NSW, she worked with the Australian government until her<br />
permanent appointment as Teacher of the NSW Department of Education.<br />
Initially, she worked as a casual teacher in the English as a Second Language(ESL) Unit at Busby High School, and was permanently<br />
appointed as an ESL teacher in Liverpool Primary School in 1987. She experienced self-fulfilment in her job as Teacher to children<br />
from diverse ethnic backgrounds.<br />
Now retired from her teaching job, Carmen devotes her time to community workassisting community organisations in her area. She<br />
became involved in volunteer work promoting Filipino culture through dances. She choreographed Filipino folk dances to young<br />
children who performed at Merrylands Council, at Liverpool, Bicentennial year celebration and Campbelltown Independence Day<br />
Celebration and at PACSI AGM in Blacktown on July, 2008. The group later became Filipino-OZ and District Cultural Dance Group.<br />
The group presented modern dances during the association’s Christmas in July and in December. With the cooperation of Fil-Oz<br />
parents Carmen taught their children Filipino dances such as Tiklos, Kuratza, Sakuting and Tinikling during Santa Cruzan events,<br />
entertaining the elderly people in nursing homes.<br />
Carmen was secretary of Fil-Oz Liverpool and Districts, Inc. for six years, an assistant secretary and then Secretary of APCO, Inc.,<br />
was appointed Secretary of Alliance of Small Community Organisations Network (ASCON) and at present the elected Secretary of<br />
APCO, Inc. based in Auburn.
