Pamana Ball 2019

On behalf of the Filipino Communities Council of Australia, Inc.
(FILCCA) I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to the
Adhika group, Inc , NARRA Co-op Ltd Plaza Filipino Inc. for their
continued commitment to showcase and celebrate Filipino culture
and achievements through the annual Pamana Ball.
I wish to acknowledge your ongoing leadership and the efforts of
the many volunteers who make such an event possible and create an
opportunity to recognise the contributions of our Filipino community
to Australia, particularly the achievements and contributions of young
Filipinos.
Filipinos now represent the sixth largest ethnic community in
Australia, and NSW the home to the vast majority, with double the
population of any other state. It is highly commendable that such
an initiative demonstrates the values of our culture and facilitates
an ongoing commitment to providing educational assistance to our
young people in the Philippines to help them achieve their aspirations.

First of all, I would like to thank you all for attending this magnificent
event. I would also wish to convey my heartfelt congratulations to the
event’s organisers, Adhika Inc., Plaza Filipino Inc. and Narra Co-operative
for hosting an activity that supports the Filipino community, its culture
and arts.
Education is one of the most important but unfortunately expensive
commodities in the Philippines that is sometimes out of reach for its
citizens. Your attendance and contributions here today are pivotal in
ensuring that people are afforded the opportunity to build a more certain
future through study and education. Proceeds from this event will go
towards supporting Adhika Inc.’s education project in the Philippines
as well as fund raising for the development of a cultural center for
Filipinos here in Sydney. The success of this event is a commendable
accomplishment of your organisations and will assist in bridging the gap
between the present and the emerging Filipinos, not only here in Australia
but in the Philippines as well.
I am a true and firm believer that with education comes knowledge and
with knowledge comes power. Through your efforts, you are giving the
emerging generations of the Filipino community an opportunity to have
access to education that would have been otherwise out of their reach.
