It gives me great pleasure to congratulate NARRA and Plaza Filipino for organizing another year of the PAMANA Ball 2019 honouring distinguished Filipino Australian achievers who are this year’s Ambassadors and Youth Ambassadors for Culture and the Arts. This event highlights the heritage and the legacy the honorees bring to the Filipino Australian community and to its next generation. As Ambassadors, they exemplify the Filipino values and traditions to the Australian society. They make us proud of their remarkable achievements and the contributions they bring to our country of birth and to this wonderful nation we now call home, Australia. On behalf of APCO Inc. I am delighted to offer our support and I would like to wish the organisers and the honorees great success for the big event. Violeta G. (APCO) It is my great pleasure to convey my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the 2019 Ambassadors for Culture and the Arts. This event is also called PAMANA Ball, an annual event organized jointly by Narra Cooperative, Plaza Filipino and Adhika, three community groups that embraces profoundly the advancement of Filipino Heritage through culture and the arts. In the same way as a fundraising campaign to support the establishment of ACI Central building and to fund other charity projects. I commend the support of the 2019 ambassadors for without these wonderful ladies & gentlemen, young and adult supporters of the program, we will not be here tonight. Similarly the hardwork of the organizing team headed by Dr. Jimmy Lopez together with the expertise of Chi de Jesus as Creative Director and other members of the working committees, I am therefore most grateful to you all. This event reflects the desire of the supporters of the legacy program of ACI aiming to achieve our long awaited Fil-Oz cultural centre, which would mean so much to the young generation and will cherish your contributions as ambassadors forever. Finally on behalf of Adhika Inc, I wish you all a very enjoyable night full of love, faith and hope in achieving our DREAM, the PAMANA, an Innovation and Cultural Centre building for Filipino- Australians. Greetings! I am very happy to welcome you all to the Pamana Ball 2019 and Recognition Night for Ambassador for Culture and the Arts 2019. We congratulate all the honourees, especially Dante Dela Cruz and Grace Canaveral in the Adult Ambassadors Group and also to Bobby Harrison and Raychelle Morcilla in the Young Ambassadors Group, for their efforts to make Pamana Ball 2019 a success. Last year was the 15th Anniversary of Plaza Filipino Inc and the 10th Anniversary of Global Ilocanos Australia Inc. We had successful joint events with Plaza Filipino, Adhika Inc. and Global Ilocanos Australia Inc. in 2018. We had the Pamana Ball recognition night for the Ambassador for Culture and the Arts in February, Tuloy Po Kayo in June, Tribute to Fathers and Mothers in September and the Rise Up Concert in October 2018. Our special thank you to our 2018 Gold Legacy Supporter Grace Canaveral; Silver Legacy Supporters namely Aida Basto, Emma Braceros, Josephine de los Reyes, Ed and Violy Escultura, Carmelita Fraser, Carol Manaloto, Josephine Tada; to our Bronze Legacy Supporters namely Jesusa Agcaoili, Dorothy Del Villar, Filipino Women Support Group, Mercy Lockwood, Gerard Musa, Florita Rontidis, Santiago Saludo; and to our Kapit Bisig Legacy Supporters. Special mention to Florence Cuaresma and Emma Braceros for the loan extended by them. Once again, I would like to thank all the honorees, my co-officers and members, as well as our families and friends. With your continued and unselfish support, we will soon be able to pay in full our NARRA-Plaza Filipino Centre for Culture and the Arts. (Sgd) Jaime R Lopez, CPA, PhD President We are delighted to once again host the annual Pamana Ball and Recognition Night for our 2019 Ambassador for Culture & The Arts. On behalf of Plaza Filipino, I would like to extend my warmest gratitude to Consul General Maria Teresa Taguiang for gracing our event and to all our volunteers and performers who have committed their time and talent to be with us tonight. Volunteerism is the community’s biggest challenge and it’s not a problem that will go away. Each year, as the Filipino migrant population grows in Australia, so too will the need for community volunteers to help each other and support our endeavours to preserve our Philippine culture and arts in our new home, Australia. To that end, we invite you to make it your new year’s resolution to help NARRA, Plaza Filipino and Adhika to achieve our goals, including the ongoing support of ACI Central, our very own community centre. To our community leaders, we want to thank you for your tireless support. Your commitment is even more critical as we see the next generation of Filipinos slowly but surely lose their connection to the past – a cultural heritage that is worth keeping and showcasing. To our honorees, you have gone a step further, making it possible for us to forge on and launch our activity calendar, a hotbed of new ideas and workshops aimed at helping the personal and professional development of our honorees, Legacy members and their family and friends. Last, thank you to my Narra, Plaza Filipino, Flagcom and Adhika family, with Dr. Jaime Lopez, Josefina Musa, Albert Prias and Charles Chan. We also want to thank Chi de Jesus for designing this year’s event and program. We hope 2019 brings you and your family more joy and blessings. Mabuhay!
