To say that 2018 was an epic year would be an understatement.
Houston BOMA leadership once again knocked it out of the park with superrelevant programming and educational content to not only meet, but exceed, the needs of the membership. A few highlights: Building Engineering Management 101 (BEM101). The first course of its kind in the country, BEM101 is designed to serve our operations members by providing them the soft skills necessary to excel and advance in their positions. Membership. Our membership has reached an all-time high with the change in our membership structure from individual-based to a building membershipbased model. While change is rarely easy or without some pain, our membership assisted us in making the transition as smooth as it could possibly be. We are as strong as our numbers and our numbers are up significantly. By changing models, we are now able to reach and serve the entire building management community. Women in BOMA. New in 2018, and led by Kelly Wheeler, our Special Interest Group Women in BOMA was a shining star in providing fun networking opportunities for our female members. The group met four times and is headed into 2019 with even more energy and enthusiasm. Annual Awards. We kicked off our new Annual Awards program this year and it was a rousing success. Our awards program was expanded to recognize excellence in all areas of property management and community impact and was well-received by the membership with thoughtful and outstanding nominations. The award winners are included later in this report. Our leadership team met in the fall to plan and strategize for the coming years and have adopted an aggressive plan for 2019. Included in the plan is continued outreach to area colleges to promote property management as a profession, and, enhancing our leadership development efforts to ensure that Houston BOMA continues to be led by the best of the best for years to come. Our strong base of committed volunteers continues to drive one success after another, and your professional staff is constantly evaluating programming and scanning the landscape to identify trends and needs, so look for more new and exciting things coming in 2019.
