DESCRIPTION<br />

The <strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS is a high per for -<br />

mance, yet low cost microstepping<br />

driver that utilizes advanced hy brid<br />

tech nol o gy to greatly reduce size<br />

without sac ri fi c ing fea tures. The<br />

<strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS is ex cep tion al ly<br />

small, easy to in ter face and use,<br />

yet pow er ful enough to handle the<br />

most demanding ap pli ca tions.<br />

The <strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS has 16 built-in<br />

microstep res o lu tions (both binary<br />

and decimal). The resolution can<br />

be changed at any time without<br />

the need to reset the driver. This<br />

feature allows the user to rapidly<br />

move long dis tanc es, yet precisely<br />

po si tion the motor at the end of<br />

travel without the expense of high<br />

per for mance con trol lers.<br />

With the development of pro pri -<br />

etary and pat ent ed cir cuits, ripple<br />

current has been min i mized to reduce<br />

motor heating common with<br />

other de signs, allowing the use of<br />

low inductance motors to improve<br />

high speed per for mance and system<br />

ef fi cien cy.<br />

The <strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS, because of<br />

its ultra small size and low cost,<br />

can be used to increase accuracy<br />

and smooth ness in systems using<br />

higher step angle motors. In many<br />

instances me chan i cal gearing can<br />

be replaced with microstepping,<br />

reducing cost and elim i nat ing poten<br />

tial main te nance.<br />

The <strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS was developed<br />

to provide de sign ers with affordable,<br />

state-of-the-art technology<br />

for the com pet i tive edge needed in<br />

today’s market.<br />

RoHS compliant products may be indicated by a -G1 part number and/or RoHS Compliant label.<br />

OPTIONS<br />

The INT-481 is an optional plug-on<br />

interface board which can be used<br />

with the <strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS to facilitate<br />

test ing, or in sit u a tions where panel<br />

mounting the <strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS is preferred.<br />

The INT-481 contains extra<br />

cir cuit ry which includes +5 VDC<br />

supply, opto isolators for step clock,<br />

di rec tion, enable and reset, along<br />

with ex tra fault de tec tion circuits,<br />

input capacitor, and fault and power<br />

LEDs. Wir ing is done through a 15<br />

pin screw ter mi nal. A four position<br />

dip switch is sup plied for microstep<br />

resolution selection.<br />

The H-481 is a small, optional heat<br />

sink which mounts eas i ly to the<br />

<strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS or the INT-481H/<br />

<strong>IM481H</strong> PLUS com bi na tion. Its<br />

compact size consumes only 4.3 cubic<br />

inch es (70.5 cu bic cm) of space.<br />

All required mount ing hard ware is<br />

in clud ed with the heat sink.<br />
