London Police Department<br />

• A 26-year-old man was found freezing<br />

in a snow drift in London on Jan. 20. He was<br />

rushed by officers to the Emergency Room.<br />

• On Jan. 22, a homeless female, living<br />

out of her vehicle, reported being followed<br />

by an unknown person for two days. The female<br />

appeared to be under stress but declined<br />

medical care. She was given a<br />

courtesy transport to a relative’s home.<br />

• On Jan. 23, a London resident reported<br />

that a female acquaintance became agitated<br />

when asked to leave then damaged his door<br />

and windows with a BB gun.<br />

• A London resident was charged with<br />

domestic violence on Jan. 24.<br />

• A London man was charged on Jan. 25<br />

with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.<br />

• A West High Street business found a<br />

small bag of narcotics believed to be<br />

methamphetamine on Jan. 26.<br />

• On Jan. 31, a London resident reported<br />

David "Dave" Malcolm Gilmore<br />

died peacefully on <strong>February</strong> 3, <strong>2019</strong> at<br />

Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus,<br />

OH at the age of 76. Born May 25, 1942 in<br />

North Tonawanda, NY, he was the youngest<br />

of 5 siblings of John Gibson Gilmore and<br />

Rosetta May Rosie.<br />

Dave is survived by his wife Barbara (Migaj)<br />

and children David, Damon, Delainee, and<br />

Kent (Gern) and 6 grandchildren.<br />

A Memorial Service will be held from 2:00<br />

p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, <strong>February</strong> 9, <strong>2019</strong><br />

at Plumwood Church of Christ in Christian<br />

Union. Final arrangements entrusted to the<br />

care of the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.<br />

Ellis (Ed) Anderson was born November 20th, 1925 in Akron, Ohio.<br />

His journey ended on <strong>February</strong> 10th, <strong>2019</strong> surrounded by his family and friends<br />

with love.<br />

He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Leona Anderson; Sister<br />

Madeline Snyder; Brother Larry: and nephew Tom Snyder. He is survived by his<br />

wife Bonnie (Earnest); Daughters Chrissy (Tim) Ward, Deb (Larry Canzonetta)<br />

Antram, and Beck Antram. As well as 2 grandchildren, Dustin (Morgan) Schaaf,<br />

Ellie Ward and great grandson Desmond. Also survived by his Nephews Jim<br />

(Nuet) Anderson, Greg (Robin) Snyder, Mark (Dorothy) Snyder, David (Peggy)<br />

Snyder and Niece Madayln (Dave) Overton.<br />

Ed served in World War II from March 1944 through April 1946. He was<br />

decorated with EAME Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal,<br />

Purple Heart, and Victory Medal World War II. He was a rifleman who assisted<br />

with the capture of enemy positions by placing direct fire upon designated<br />

targets with a rifle. Made reconnaissance patrols behind enemy lines to obtain<br />

information related to enemy strength and disposition of troops.<br />

After the military he went on to work at Amster Kirtz starting from a warehouse<br />

worker to eventually becoming CEO & Owner. After retiring Ed enjoyed spending<br />

his days with his family including his beloved Miniature Schnauzer Coco. Along<br />

with watching the Ohio State buckeyes, he was an avid NFL fan and “The<br />

Champion of The Universe” at Euchre.<br />

ex-boyfriend. As a result, an arrest warrant<br />

was issued for a Columbus resident.<br />

• A car parked at a London restaurant<br />

ROBERTS<br />

Brian K. Roberts, 48, of London died on Feb. 3, <strong>2019</strong>, at Ohio<br />

State University Cancer Hospital in Columbus. Born on Dec. 21,<br />

1970, in London, he was a son of Carl L. and Sandra (Cummins)<br />

Roberts. Brian was a 1989 graduate of London High School and had<br />

worked for Hauck Brothers Heating and Cooling. He is survived by:<br />

his father, Carl Roberts; sons, Justin (Cassie) Roberts of London<br />

and Brandon Roberts of Hilliard; grandsons, Ganon and Landon<br />

Roberts; sisters, Michelle Roberts, Morgan (Rob) Toops and Crystal<br />

(Adam) Noble; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in<br />

death by his mother, Sandra, in 2018. Funeral services were held<br />

Feb. 9 in Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home and Crematory, London,<br />

with Pastor Steve Rath officiating. Interment followed in Somerford<br />

Township Cemetery, London. Memorial contributions may be made<br />

to the American Cancer Society.<br />

SINKFORD<br />

Vivian E. “Boots” (Lowery) Sinkford, 93, of South Charleston died<br />

on Feb. 5, <strong>2019</strong>, at <strong>Madison</strong> Health in London. Born on Feb. 9, 1925,<br />

in London, she was a daughter of Ernest H. and Geneva (Lane) Lowery.<br />

Vivian was a member of St. Paul AME Church where she served<br />

as a stewardess and missionary. She loved to read, solve puzzles and<br />

watch Cincinnati Reds baseball. Survivors include: her children,<br />

Louis (Amy) Sinkford, Robin (Robert) Johnson and Dana (Henry)<br />

Wilson; grandchildren, Jeffrey Wilson (Trina), Kelli Smith (Steve),<br />

Brayden Sinkford and Lavon Johnson; great-grandchildren Brandi<br />

(Steven), David, Ava and Morgan; sister, Beverly (Edward) Poindexter;<br />

brother, Phillip (Alice) Lowery; and several nieces and nephews.<br />

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Louis G. Sinkford; parents;<br />

four brothers; a sister; and grandson,<br />

Derek Sinkford. Funeral services were held<br />

Feb. 9 in St. Paul AME Church, London<br />

with Rev. Melvyn Huguely officiating. Interment<br />

followed at Kirkwood Cemetery, London.<br />

The family was served by Eberle-Fisher<br />

Funeral Home and Crematory, London.<br />

BROOKE<br />

Mary Esther Brooke, 92, of Columbus<br />

died on Feb. 7, <strong>2019</strong>. Mary was a member<br />

of West Jefferson United Methodist Church<br />

and former organist. She graduated from<br />

Otterbein University with a bachelor’s degree<br />

in music and was a former member of<br />

The Harmonetts singing group. Mary was a<br />

music and voice teacher for Jefferson Local<br />

Schools. She was retired from Prudential<br />

Insurance as an administrator. Mary was<br />

preceded in death by her parents, Frank<br />

and Clara (Taylor) Peters, and loving husband,<br />

George, of 57 years who passed away<br />

in 2007. Mary is survived by her daughters,<br />

Barbara Holzer of Indianapolis, Ind., and<br />

for several days turned out to be stolen. It<br />

was impounded for processing on Jan. 23.<br />

• The <strong>Madison</strong> County Treasurer’s Office<br />

reported receiving what appeared to be a<br />

counterfeit $20 bill on Jan. 24. The bill was<br />

obituaries<br />

seized for further investigation. The suspect<br />

provided a voluntary written statement.<br />

• A Mount Sterling business reported receiving<br />

what turned out to be a counterfeit<br />

$20 bill.<br />

Janice (Barry) Fonarow of Columbus. A celebration of life service<br />

was held Feb. 15 at West Jefferson United Methodist Church. Inurnment<br />

followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, West Jefferson.<br />

HANN<br />

Helen C. Hann of London and formerly of Fairfield, Ohio, died on<br />

Feb. 7, <strong>2019</strong>, at Sisters on Elm Senior Living in London. Helen was<br />

born on Feb. 12, 1921, a daughter of Charles and Cora (Smith) Corless<br />

in Fairfield, Ohio. She attended Fairfield Local Schools, graduating<br />

in 1939. A graduate of Mercy School of Nursing in Hamilton,<br />

Ohio, in 1942, Helen became an instructor at Mercy Hospital and<br />

Ft. Hamilton Hospital Schools of Nursing. She also worked for eight<br />

years as a school nurse in Fairfield City Schools. On Nov. 26, 1948,<br />

she married Harry Hann and they were married for 55 years. They<br />

were parents to three sons and were members of Sacred Heart<br />

Church in Fairfield. In 1989, they moved with their family to London<br />

and became members of St. Patrick Church. Helen is survived by:<br />

her sons, Joe (Dorothy) Hann, Dan (Paula) Hann, of London and<br />

Chuck (Tari) Hann of Mount Sterling; four grandchildren, David<br />

(Beth) Hann of Beavercreek, Mike (Nancy) Hann of Grove City, Amy<br />

Hann-Morrow of London, and Sarah Hann of Mount Sterling; six<br />

great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob and Abby Hann of Beavercreek,<br />

Hannah Morrow of London, and Luke and Lauren Hann of<br />

Grove City; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in<br />

death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Hubert. A Mass<br />

of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 12 at St. Patrick Church,<br />

London, with Fr. Michael Hinterschied presiding. Burial followed in<br />

St. Patrick Cemetery. The family was served by Eberle-Fisher Funeral<br />

Home and Crematory, London. Memorial donations may be<br />

made to: St. Patrick Church, 61 S. Union St., London, OH 43140;<br />

<strong>Madison</strong> County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund, in care of<br />

Paula Herald, 2560 Karok Dr., London, OH 43140; or Loving Care<br />

Hospice, 56 S. Oak St., London, OH 43140. The family wishes to express<br />

its gratitude to the caregivers at Sisters on Elm and Loving<br />

Care Hospice who took wonderful care of Helen.<br />

YOUNG<br />

Douglas Patrick Young, 58, of West Jefferson died on Feb. 9,<br />

<strong>2019</strong>, with his loving family by his side. Doug graduated from West<br />

Jefferson High School in 1978. He was a retired construction<br />

worker. Doug was an avid fisherman and loved riding his Harley<br />

and spending time with his grandchildren. Doug was preceded in<br />

death by his daughter, Paige, grandson, Lucas, and brother, Dino.<br />

He is survived by: his loving wife of 32 years, Sheri; parents, Neil<br />

and Patty Young; children, Brooke (Mike) Foor and Tina (Brian)<br />

Smith; sister, Vickie (Greg) Johnson; brother, Dale (Jeni) Young;<br />

grandchildren, Carson, Caiti, Cami, Colvin, Connor and Olivia;<br />

mother-in-law. Judy Mille; and numerous loving relatives and<br />

friends. A funeral service was held Feb. 15 at Rader-McDonald-Tidd<br />

Funeral Home, West Jefferson. Inurnment will follow at a later<br />

date. Memorial contributions may be made to Rader-McDonald-<br />

Tidd Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
