PILATES<br />

Pilates was one of the first<br />

styles of exercise to address<br />

core strength, posture<br />

and proper alignment. At<br />

<strong>Dovercourt</strong>, our Pilates<br />

<strong>program</strong>s expand on Joseph<br />

Pilates’ original repertoire of<br />

34 exercises by using modern<br />

techniques, research and<br />

equipment to help students<br />

strengthen the body’s<br />

“powerhouse”. Pilates will<br />

provide stability and support to<br />

the spine while simultaneously<br />

developing strength in the deep<br />

abdominal and pelvic floor<br />

muscles. We recommend new<br />

students begin at the beginner<br />

level until they are comfortable<br />

with the terms, techniques<br />

and breathwork required to<br />
