Dr R.C. Hiremath is the Former Principal at K L E Society’s S.<br />
Nijalingappa College, Bangalore. Under his leadership the<br />
institution was accessed and re-accredited as “A+” Grade, with a<br />
CGPA of 3.53 on 4.0 scale. He is recognized as an expert in the<br />
NAAC accreditation process and is a trained NAAC Assessor. He<br />
has also visited several institutions all over India as a trained Peer<br />
Team Member.<br />
NAAC Accreditation<br />
The session started with comparing the NAAC with NBA<br />
accreditation processes and the functioning of NAAC. The core<br />
values of NAAC are: contributing to national development, global<br />
competition, value systems and use of technology (ICT enabled<br />
teaching). Before applying for NAAC, it is very important to<br />
understand NAAC’s vision and relate our institute’s vision with<br />
theirs. The various benefits of NAAC accreditation are: helps to<br />
know SWOC (strength, weakness, opportunities and challenges),<br />
planning and resource allocation, systematic database for<br />
performance-based funding, initiates innovation and modern<br />
methods of pedagogy, gives new sense of direction and identity,<br />
provides reliable information to public, standards in recruitment<br />
and promotes intra/inter institution relation. Understanding of old<br />
and new pedagogies, and their differences were explained.<br />
The preparation, basic requirements and stakeholders for NAAC<br />
were discussed. The three levels of NAAC assessment were<br />
explained in detail and they are: IIQA and SSR/ Letter of interest,<br />
DVV and pre-qualifier score, and on-site assessment - peer review<br />
by visiting teams and generation of result. How to prepare Student<br />
Satisfaction Survey (SSS) was explained. The NAAC marks<br />
distribution pattern was presented. The seven main criteria’s and<br />
their sub criterions were discussed. The session ended with a<br />
Dr Hiremath addressing the queries of the audience.<br />
