GOVERNMENT MAYOR RON reports PHASE II OF MAINTENANCE FACILITY PROJECT BREAKS GROUND On Friday, February 22, the City Council, staff, and I celebrated the groundbreaking for construction of Phase II of the Maintenance Facility. The construction project, which will address inadequate space needs for operations of the Parks, Trails, and Recreation and Public Works departments, includes a new administrative building to replace the existing administrative building at 10001 East Costilla Avenue. The improvements will create a more productive and efficient work environment, and ensure staff continues to deliver high quality services to residents and businesses in the future. Major areas addressed included a new fleet maintenance building; construction of a new material storage building for snow and ice control; expanded material bins for bulk purchasing of materials such as mulch; and canopies for Village equipment. In addition, a new Police Department state-of-the-art crime lab was renovated and modernized as part of the project to improve space needs for police officers and staff to meet the 21st century demands of policing. Phase II of the Maintenance Facility improvements is anticipated to be completed in nine months. The project is fully funded within the Village’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). During construction, staff will be relocated to temporary housing west of the existing Maintenance Facility to ensure continuing service delivery. The Greenwood Village Newsletter is the number one source residents use for information about the Village. It is sorted based on address and not by household name to ensure every home receives a Newsletter, even if the household name changes. In addition, the Newsletter is posted on our Website at greenwoodvillage.com. Anyone can sign up to receive the Newsletter electronically once it is published through the Notify Me feature of the Website. If we were only to email the Newsletter to residents, it would be a significant challenge for staff to manage an email database for every household in the Village especially with the ongoing relocation of people to and from the Village. The email only option would not guarantee that every home would receive the Newsletter. Mailing the Newsletter is the most effective option to reach everyone. P G . 7 P G . 1 1 P G . ARAPAHOE AT VILLAGE CENTER LIGHT RAIL STATION SURFACE PARKING LOT TO RE-OPEN Plans for construction of a hotel on the east side of I-25, adjacent to the Arapahoe Light Rail parking garage, where the previous surface parking lot was located, will not occur at this time. Given these circumstances, the Village will be making improvements to the surface parking lot to ensure user safety. Once improvements have been made, the parking lot will reopen to the public sometime in late March, weather permitting. The Village owns the 3.5 acres where the surface parking lot is located.
