AFTER A lifetime of low<br />
self-esteem and a fear of<br />
injuries, Jennine White felt<br />
unfit, vulnerable and afraid to<br />
work out.<br />
Now the 33-year-old<br />
performance reporting analyst<br />
will take part in the 6km<br />
City2Surf run on <strong>March</strong> 24<br />
feeling better than ever.<br />
Mrs White decided to focus<br />
on her health in November<br />
after a visit to her doctor to<br />
talk about a shoulder injury<br />
turned into a discussion about<br />
how her lack of fitness was<br />
affecting her well-being.<br />
Her doctor recommended<br />
the ‘green prescription’, a<br />
free programme which offers<br />
advice from a physical activity<br />
coach.<br />
She received a plan from<br />
her coach Olivia Maisey and<br />
gained the confidence to<br />
participate in the City2Surf<br />
after she was encouraged to see<br />
a personal trainer, get injury<br />
rehabilitation and see a life<br />
coach.<br />
Mrs White is now positive<br />
she can push herself to do the<br />
6km event if she alternates<br />
between a brisk walk and a jog<br />
to take care of her injury.<br />
While she has finished with<br />
the green prescription, she<br />
said Miss Maisey has been like<br />
her “cheerleader.” She said her<br />
personal trainer, life coach,<br />
family and friends have all<br />
helped her to stay motivated.<br />
“People like me need<br />
someone in our corner and<br />
someone to help us fight<br />
through to get a better<br />
lifestyle,” she said.<br />
Mrs White said she is<br />
focussed on her well-being<br />
rather than losing weight,<br />
and feels “amazing” because<br />
of it.<br />
“My mental health is so<br />
much better, I have reduced<br />
anxiety and sleep so well. I<br />
feel like I’m on another planet<br />
now,” said Mrs White.<br />
Miss Maisey said it was good<br />
to see how extra support can<br />
make a difference to someone’s<br />
lifestyle.<br />
“She’s gone from doing<br />
barely any exercise to<br />
absolutely smashing it,” said<br />
Miss Maisey.<br />
“She has done amazing.”<br />
