If that is you, don’t beat yourself up. Life is not a 100-meter race. It’s a marathon. The fact that you began the process—envisioning the various ways to improve your happiness, health, goals and overall value of your life—is already a great success. You are not alone in this! So instead of giving up, we are going to figure out a new game plan together.

MONTHLY CHALLENGE<br />
ast month we were Grateful. This month we are going to<br />
challenge ourselves with Self-Kindness.<br />
“But I am kind to myself already…”<br />
Great! Then this challenge will be super easy for you and you<br />
have nothing to worry about.<br />
“I already occasionally practice self-care and I just read the article<br />
on Self Love…why do I need to do this challenge?”<br />
Let’s step back a moment…hear me out for a bit…this is a challenge<br />
designed to help you show kindness to yourself for five days (not even<br />
a full week!). [Oh, and maybe you should consider scheduling a free<br />
30-minute call with us as a first step to uncovering the real root of your<br />
skepticism towards the fact that you are worth five days of effort…just<br />
saying.] But before you dismiss this, why not give it a try? This will be a<br />
worthwhile exercise. What do you say?<br />
Day One<br />
Hug yourself for twenty<br />
seconds every hour.<br />
When we greet people<br />
that we care for, we<br />
often do it by shaking<br />
their hands or giving<br />
them a hug. So, for Day<br />
One, I want you to greet<br />
yourself. Wrap your<br />
arms around yourself<br />
and exhale. Breathe<br />
in and out deeply for<br />
twenty seconds. Allow<br />
yourself to feel your own<br />
embrace. 20 seconds out<br />
of every hour is the least<br />
you can give to yourself.<br />
So then…let’s go…It’s Challenge Time! We will practice Self-Kindness over<br />
the next 5 days.<br />
Self-kindness or self-compassion is defined by Wikipedia as the act of<br />
extending compassion to one’s self in instances of perceived inadequacy,<br />
failure, or general suffering. As you can see, this goes way beyond taking<br />
care of your physical body. This involves forgiving yourself, being kind to<br />
yourself and understanding that just as you can provide kindness to others,<br />
you deserve kindness too.<br />
