PILATES
POWER
Waikato Edition
MARCH 2019
Like many, my 2019 started
with the best intentions.
With lifestyle and
personal goals; from simple
decluttering, to health and
wellbeing, and revisiting some
neglected interests.
Then the whirlwind of life
took over - deadlines, events,
life decisions, parenting, etc.
Suddenly we’re already a third
of the way through the new
year, with many of these goals
stagnant.
However, I’m taking the
advice of some of our columnists
in this issue; that it’s
important not to beat yourself
up over what you may perceive
as ‘failure to achieve’. Take a
moment to acknowledge what
you have achieved, refocus and
move forward.
This positive outlook is a
common personality trait in
many of the people we interview
for INSPO, particularly
among successful athletes.
Failure is part of sport - and
an integral part of learning
and improving. Fortunately
there’s no expiration date on
embracing a fresh attitude. Or
trying something new.
In this issue we bring you
some advice around ageing
well and what you can do now
to contribute to a better quality
of lifestyle in the future.
We also take a look at coping
with the mental challenges
of recovering from an injury.
New Zealand foodie sisters
Julia and Libby Matthews
demystify the topic of a low
GI lifestyle and serve up some
delicious recipe ideas.
And we chat with Lisa Laity,
who features on our front
cover, about her passion for
bringing pilates to her local
community.
