Bus service faces axe

morning and afternoon is
probably not so good for
the retired folk. A service
in the mid-morning to
mid-afternoon type scenario,
you would probably
get retired people using it,”
Mr Clausen said.
“Until they try, you don’t
really know do you?”
He said an early morning
bus is still “needed,” but
if people did not use it, he
would understand if it was
stopped.
“If we can’t get one going,
will we get two going?” Mr
Clausen said.
Meanwhile, the Darfield
bus – launched at the same
time as Leeston – has had a
“positive” uptake.
“We saw strong growth
on the Darfield
service . . . with an
average of 47 daily
boardings,” Mr
Gibbon said.
He said there
is still room for
growth in the Darfield
to Christchurch
service.
