A Community Fun Day will
be held this Saturday March
30 in the old Eastwood Town
Hall at 74 Agincourt Road
Marsfield from 10am to 4pm.
Event is hosted by Mahboba’s
Promise, an Australian
Aid organisation. Come along
for a special day of fun, food
and culture for the whole family

Autumn Flower Vegetable
and Floral Art Show
CONCORD Garden Club will host its 65th Autumn
Flower, Vegetable and Floral Art Show on
the weekend of April 6-7 at Concord Community
Centre, 1A Gipps Street, Concord.
The Show is very traditional and competitive with
judges from the NSW Royal Horticultural Society
looking for excellence in the exhibits. It will be officially
opened on Saturday April 6 by George Hoad,
President of the Garden Clubs of Australia at 12.30pm.
Concord Community Centre is filled with roses, orchids,
pot plants, fruit and vegetables as well as floral
art arrangements - a joy to behold.
Robyn Bible, the Geranium Lady, has a stall with an
interesting array of geraniums on offer while the Club
has a Plant stall with lots of small and larger plants
for sale.
There’ll be a White Elephant stall with a wide range
of second hand goods including books, Christmas
decorations, kitchenware and more. The Ladies Auxiliary
of the Concord Hostel will provide refreshments
- lovely sandwiches and tasty homemade cakes.
Show will be open Saturday from 10.30am to 4pm and
Sunday between 9am and 3pm. The building is an old
bowling club with parking and is accessible. Cost $3

The Beecroft Orchstra’s opening 2019 concert
this Sunday in St Albans Anglican Church,
Pembroke Street, Epping at 2.30pm.
Winners are: Murray Sheens, Denistone and
Claudia Pannowitz of Ermington. Concert
will feature well known children’s entertainer
Danielle Baynes (pictured) as narrator in Katy
Abbott’s “The Peasant Prince”, the story of
dancer Li Cunxin. Other popular works include
Tchaikovsky’s Walz of the Flowers, Offenbach’s
Can Can Polka and the Dam Buster’s March by
Eric Coates.
The conductor for the concert is the orchestra’s

re-scheduled a FREE Orchestra
in the Park event to this
Saturday March 30 at Brush
Farm House from 6pm to
8.30pm.
The Ryde Hunters Hill
Symphony Orchestra, led
by conductor Ian Cox, will
stage a performance that will
include Mozart’s ‘Overture
from The Magic Flute K. 620’,
Mendelssohn’s ‘Auf Flugeln
des Gesanges’ (On Wings of
Song) by J.L.F. (Felix) with soloist
Alison Robertson, as well
as Haydn’s ‘Cello Concerto
No. 1 in C Major’ with soloist
George Yang. There’ll also be
drinks and food available to
purchase on the night with an
on-site bar, cheese boards,
coffee and desserts.
Brush Farm House will
also be open to the public to
