The Weekly Times - TWT - 27th March 2019

The Weekly Times - TWT - cheekily describes itself as a campaigning, crusading, truth-seeking, death defying, Aussie battler-aligned, one-eyed-Tiger-led news organisation dedicated to Sydney's north west. It's one of the few remaining independently run community newspapers and turns 100 years old in 2021 - so if you want to show your support for independent media, have a quick look at the paper, submit a letter to the editor via its website or like or share one of its posts on social media. The flip book - or digital edition/replica - of the 27th March 2019 edition of TWT can be reached here: https://weeklytimes.com.au/the-weekly-times-twt-27th-march-2019/ And the most current edition of TWT is always reachable using this short address: bit.ly/OurTWT

Community supports local MPs
A big congratulations to all the local state MPs who were re-elected on the
weekend! Ryde’s Victor Dominello, Epping’s incoming Dominic Perrottet
and Legislative Council bound outgoing Damien Tudehope, Parramatta’s
Geoff Lee, and Lane Cove’s Anthony Roberts.
Of course, on behalf of the community, I will also claim Gladys Berejiklian
for North Ryde! Congratulations to her on being elected Premier in her
own right. I too am proud NSW is “a state in which someone with a long
surname, or a woman, can become the Premier!” – inspiring words from
Gladys’ acceptance speech. Our whole wonderful multicultural community
can take heart in her words, backstory, and achievements.
Thank you to all the volunteers who came out and supported their
candidate, without you we don’t have a democratic process, well done
on your important work and I hope you stayed hydrated!
Team JA’ doing the World’s Greatest Shave
Supporting the Leukaemia Foundation became even more personal for me
when my own staff member got struck down with aggressive Stage 4 Non-
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma 18 months ago, right in the middle of my 100km walk
through Bennelong for the Foundation!
Brendan got dangerously ill in a matter of weeks, thankfully upon diagnosis
he immediately started chemotherapy (medicare and PBS funded) and
received support from the Leukaemia Foundation.
Brendan has made a full recovery. To celebrate his 12 months back at work
Brendan and other members of my staff will join me on Friday to have our
locks shaved off!
Google: “Team JA worlds greatest shave” to donate, and
look out for the pictures. :)
Regards – JA
