performances of the Metropolitan Opera, classic
films Grease and The Dark Crystal, four popular
anime presentations, Rachel Hollis’s Made for More
documentary, Elvis Presley’s 1968 Comeback Special,
faith-based titles An Interview with God and
“Sight & Sound Theatres Presents: Moses,” Tony
Award-winning Broadway musical Bandstand, and
Peter Jackson’s WWI documentary They Shall Not
Grow Old, which in January became the highest-grossing
U.S. event cinema release.
Fathom Events’ box office results are even more
noteworthy in that they are typically achieved over
the course of one to four days, with limited screenings—often
just one show time—and are shown in
just hundreds of locations, therefore maximizing
the per-screen-average for theater exhibitors.
TAIWAN’S SHOWTIME AUTOMATES
WITH ARTS ALLIANCE MEDIA
>> Showtime Cinemas, the Taiwanese cinema
chain, will automate its content management
using Arts Alliance Media’s (AAM) theater management
system (TMS), Screenwriter. Showtime
is deploying Screenwriter throughout its entire
estate of 160 screens.
“Powerful solutions like Screenwriter are integral
to supporting the effectiveness of our site staff,
reaching our business goals, and ensuring our continued
success,” said Willy Liao, general manager
at Showtime Cinemas. “We knew that Screenwriter
would improve our processes, and it has already
proven it was worth investing in.”
Screenwriter enables staff to schedule features,
trailers, and advertisements, monitor screens, and
control playback all from one interface. Any potential
content, KDMs (key delivery messages), and
connectivity issues can be resolved ahead of time to
keep screenings on schedule.
Screenwriter customers also have access to
AAM’s free ScreenConnect add-on, which facilitates
fully automated KDM delivery through
AAM’s collaboration with Deluxe Technicolor
Digital Cinema (DTDC). It allows any KDMs
generated by DTDC to be delivered directly from
DTDC’s systems to the exhibitor’s screen servers,
and provides DTDC with delivery confirmation
so that they can proactively resend any KDM that
didn’t reach its destination.
