In this issue let’s talk about cruising (River and Ocean). For Kiwi’s travelling abroad a cruise has become a HOT choice
and our cruising stats have increased massively over the last few years. The myths about cruising seem to have fallen
by the wayside with so many great cruise companies offering products to suit one and all with competitive pricing. It is
vital to come and chat with us about your cruise ideas as there are so many different operators that it is super important
to match up the right cruise line with your travel needs and personal requirements. Certainly, one size does not fit all!
Here are a few of our favourites cruising destinations and cruise companies…
OCEAN CRUISING
CLOSE TO HOME: Nothing beats P&O Cruises around the
beautiful Pacific Islands. Recently, we’ve welcomed the Pacific
Aria to our shores, and she is now based out of Auckland. A
lovely ship that is perfect for families, couples and groups and
offers something for everyone. A few of our team have been
lucky enough to sail with P&O so we have first-hand experience
and knowledge of their ships. We were all pleasantly surprised at
the level of service on board, the excellent food and world class
entertainment. A very easy relaxing holiday and a chance to visit
some of our island neighbours.
Another very popular itinerary for close to home options are the
“Around Australia” cruises – these are normally between 15-30
days and some circumnavigate the whole of Australia, but you
need to book at least one year in advance for these cruises as
they sell out fast.
USA/CANADA: Probably our most popular cruise line for
this region would be Princess Cruises. They have a variety of
different sized ships all sitting at about 4.5* standard. A cruise
up the Inside Passage from Canada to Alaska is a chance to
view spectacular scenery and see whales and bears along the
way. Alternatively, if you like somewhere with a bit more colour
and culture then cruise south from LA down into the Mexican
riviera where you head into the quaint old colonial
cities and have a margherita or two! Ole!
MEDITERREAN: Cruising around the Med has been
super popular over the last few years with a myriad
of companies offering itineraries in this area. An
easy way to travel in this area which can cover a lot of ground (or
ocean!) very quickly, which means more time to explore some of
these vibrant coastal ports. One day you can be sampling tapas
in Barcelona, the next croissants in France followed by pizza in
Italy. Some of our favourite cruise lines in this area are: Celebrity
(mostly large stylish ships that attract a diverse clientele),
Azamara (smaller ships with fantastic service yet still very relaxed),
Royal Caribbean (great for families and couples with lots of fun
activities on board).
ASIA: Cruising around Japan is currently a HOT destination.
With the Rugby World Cup gracing Japan’s shores in 2019 these
cruises are a great way to see the whole country before or after
watching the All Blacks win, again! However, there are many great
cruise itineraries around Asia, and we are finding other popular
destinations are cruises from Singapore that head up to Sri Lanka
and India. Something to spice up your life!!
RIVER CRUISING

trips were. River cruising in Europe and Asia has sky rocketed in
popularity over the last few years and we are finding that to get
what you want you need to book at least one year in advance.
We have literally just had our first early bird deals released, so

River cruising is a very relaxed environment where you sail
along the smooth expansive rivers of Europe and stop along
the way to enjoy the towns and cities and all they offer. As you
travel on the river you will enjoy spectacular scenery along
the way coupled with exceptional service by the staff on
board. The food is absolutely amazing, and a real highlight!
Many River Cruise companies are all inclusive and you don’t
have to pull out your wallet much at all. Travelling along the
rivers is quite a unique experience and slowly sailing into a
city via river can be mesmerising let alone the thrill of going
through the massive locks as well.
