“We care about the quality and freshness of the food we serve
here. Our Osso Bucco is slow cooked for four hours in a wine reduction
sauce with celery, onions and carrots,” adds Accarpio.
And, if the crowd of people feasting on their food is any indication
of its newly minted excellence then its new incarnation is holding
true to its mission.
If you want proof talk to Betty Pappas, who came to Cena with
her friends,Nanette O’Neill and Linda Deblasio. “The salmon here
is excellent, and so is the service. This is my first time eating here
and I will come back.”
Linda had this to say: “My Branzino alla Griglia con Verdure was
fresh and grilled to perfection with grilled vegetables.” As for Nanette,
it was a perfect score. The attractive snowbird sat in front
of an empty plate. “You can see how much I loved the Dover Sole,
it was superb. It was moist with a lemon and caper sauce that was
unique and so tasty.”
The salmon entrée that Betty raved about is a favorite at Cena.
It’s pan-seared Atlantic Salmon in a mustard crust, served with
mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. If you’re a mashed potato
connoisseur Cena has some of the best of breed – they’re creamy
and luscious to the taste.
Another bright spot at this romantic enclave of Italian fare is
their homemade Fettuccine Bolognese. It’s outstanding – with
homemade fettuccine in a fresh meat ragout with beef and veal. The
flavors are delicate yet discerning with a tenderness yet a fierceness
of excellence. “We make over 15 pounds of fettuccine Bolognese
a day and we run out of it quite often,” said Accarpio.
You can see why - it’s spectacular. So is there special of the evening,
a 14-ounce center cut Veal Chop with homemade Porcini
mushroom glaze and homemade mashed potatoes.
Other favorites at Cena include the Veal Milanese con Arugula,
Cipolla de Tropea & Ciliegino. It’s a pounded Veal Chop, breaded
and fried with baby arugula, Tropea red onion and cherry tomatoes.
Also popular – the Ravioli di Ricotta e Spinaci con Crema de
Asparagi. This dish is made of fresh homemade Ravioli stuffed with
Ricotta cheese and spinach in an asparagus cream sauce.
Each evening brings a unique experience – in food choices (they
have wonderful specials each day), guests and wine selection. There
Plate Fried Calamari
Fettuccine Bolognese
is a beautiful wine cellar in full view that adds a classic Italian flair
to its intimate elegant surroundings. They also have an outdoor
patio that is romantic and refreshing with beautiful Bougainvillea
greenery and sliders that are gently pulled up to retain the fullness
and freshness of the outdoors.
The beautiful artwork on the wall blends into the essence of its
classic yet classy Italian roots. But it’s all perfectly planned for your
enjoyment. The restaurant is intimate, yet not small – classy without
pretension. It’s truly an angelic realm of Italian flavor and flair
without having to make any bold claims.
“I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is outstanding! Fresh
homemade pasta at Cena Cucina Italiana is such a treat! We ordered
the Fettuccine Bolognese and the Ravioli. Both dishes were
terrific. To finish our dining experience we ordered the Tiramisu,
which was divine!” said Kerri.
Dessert is something to savor at Cena Cucina. Their homemade
Italian Cheesecake is best of breed with a softness and flavor usually
not seen in this genre. But that’s what you get when the dessert
is homemade with loving hands. Also terrific is their homemade
chocolate souffle with chocolate sauce (and ice-cream if you ask).
According to management, “It’s not about fueling up, it’s about winding
down and enjoying the people you love most, over fresh, top quality,
expertly prepared meals and exquisite wines. If you’ve ever traveled to
Italy you understand that Cena isn’t just a meal, it’s an event!”
We couldn’t agree more.
So does local businesswoman, Christina. “Met friends at Cena for
dinner and the entire experience was fabulous! Yummy food, efficient
yet unhurried service, great selections on the wine list and a
leisurely, European paced where dinner IS the event and conversation
is encouraged by the atmosphere. Cena is a little gem...I highly
recommend it!”
