Boys & Girls Club of Delray Beach Honors
Community Member and Club’s Youth of the Year
A
warm and beautiful evening was the
backdrop for the 7th Annual Be Great
Celebration Dinner on Thursday, March
7 at the Seagate Country Club benefitting the
Naoma Donnelley Haggin Boys & Girls Club
of Delray Beach. The dinner celebrated the
achievements of local community member,
Patsy Randolph Mayer, winner of the Forrest
and Frances Lattner Community Impact
Award, which recognizes a member of the
community for outstanding achievements and
dedication to the Club; as well as the Club’s
Youth of the Year, Derry Gaspard who embodies
Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s priority
outcome areas of leadership; character and
service; academic excellence; and healthy lifestyles.
Being named Youth of the Year is the
highest honor bestowed upon Club members.
Nearly 230 guests enjoyed a cocktail hour
and sumptuous dinner featuring a special
performance by the Club’s Young Violinists
and an exciting live auction. The event raised
more than $165,000 to benefit Club children.
During the dinner, Gaspard gave a moving
speech, sharing his Club experience and how
the Club has helped him develop goals and aspirations
for the future. As part of his honor,
Gaspard received a four-year Florida Prepaid
College Scholarship thanks to the generosity
of the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation.
Proceeds from the Be Great Celebration
Dinner support the Boys & Girls Clubs of
