Dear Parents, We are entering into a very special season for Catholics, as this is when we remember the sacrifices made by our Lord Jesus Christ. The school holiday not only allows us to spend time with our family and friends but it is also an opportunity to think about our faith as we journey through the liturgies of Holy Week. When we return to school, it will be the season of Easter and so we will celebrate our Easter Liturgy by walking to the Good Shepherd Church on Wednesday 24 th April. For many students, the Easter break will also be an opportunity to prepare for GCSE and A’ level examinations. Many students are already busy revising, some of them may be attending the Easter revision sessions at school and I wish them all every success during this important time. May I also take this opportunity to remind you that we re-open for the Summer term on Tuesday 23 rd April. I wish you all a very happy and Holy Easter and I look forward to seeing our students fully refreshed next term. Jo Love, Head of School WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY We raised £233.03! On Thursday 21st March the whole school celebrated World Down Syndrome Day. It was a busy week full of activities, awareness and fundraising. Students participated in a variety of events including a colouring competition, designing socks, guess the sweets in the jar and making chromosome chains to display in form rooms. On the day lots of staff and students wore odd socks and awareness ribbons with pride. The cake sales and tuck shop proved popular, as always, helping to raise over £200. We would like to thank everyone for their support, including all the parents who kindly donated their time and most importantly, cakes. Miss R Henley
YEAR 12 TRIP TO LINCOLN UNIVERSITY On 27 th March all of Year 12 had the opportunity to visit the UCAS Fair at Lincoln University. Here they were able to talk to over 120 different providers about the next steps on their journeys to university and beyond. There were also talks about apprenticeships, student finance and career pathways. A really informative day to support our students in deciding which pathways are right for them as they move towards life beyond Christ the King. Mr Reddington, Head of 6th Form Macbeth was another huge CTK success with audiences leaving feeling completely blown away by the amazing talent of our students. Macbeth was brought into the 21 st Century and onto the streets of Nottingham with revenge, power and status at the core. With club anthems and a punk feel, Macbeth’s banquet scene was set with a nightclub feel with the cast creating their own ‘boomerangs’ keeping the feel of 2019. One audience member said they “loved it and felt like they had been in a pop video!” Macbeth was played by Louis Leivers and Lady Macbeth played by Neve McGuinness-Dyce. They gave outstanding performances, as did the whole cast. Every year from Y7 to Y13 was represented and each individual student gave 100%. To tackle a Shakespearean tragedy is no mean feat and every single cast member rose to the challenge. Here at CTK we are very proud of our whole school productions and Macbeth, although a real challenge, was truly outstanding. Mrs Stanley, Head of Drama Year 10 News Some good news! 10 of our Year 10 students have secured a place on an army camp for a week and 8 of our Year 10s have applied for a university taster experience.
