CATENIAN PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION
Several year 12 and 13 students have been participating in public speaking training
since December. Shannon Samecki (Y12) was chosen to represent Christ the King at the
Province 15 final of the Catenian Public Speaking Competition at Ratcliffe College which
was held on Sunday 24 th March.
It was the first all-female final in the 12 years that the competition had run and all of the
competitors performed very well in front of over 100 people. Shannon spoke on the topic
of ‘learning only comes through making mistakes’ and made the whole room laugh with
her wit and ability to craft relatable stories within her speech. The competitors spoke on a
range of topics including ‘The idea of Peace on Earth is Naïve’ and the winning speech’s
topic was ‘real love is not the stuff of pop songs’. Shannon received a certificate of
achievement and a £20 gift voucher – Well done Shannon!

Inclusion Football Team
who on 7th March played in The SEND Football
Tournament at Harvey Haddon. It was a very
successful day as they won every game and
didn't concede a single goal!! Well done to
you all!
