GBN Radiothon to raise funds
for pediatric cancer research

Glenbrook North students
will host the annual
WGBK Radiothon from 2
p.m. until midnight Friday,
April 12 to raise money for
pediatric cancer research.
For $1 per ticket listeners
can request a song and
will be entered into a raffle.
Prizes include Chicago
Cubs tickets, White Sox
tickets and gift cards to
local businesses.
Song requests can be
made and raffle tickets
can be purchased from any
broadcasting student or
at the GBN Broadcasting
Department.
Maple Mathletes place 15th at state competition

Maple School’s Math
Team competed March 23
at the state level in the Illinois
MathCounts Competition.
Stephanie Mei, Ben
Witzel, Rishi Purayil, and
Tom Mitchell represented
the school well and placed
15th in the state.
“The competition recognizes
the top 15, and this is
the first year we made this
recognition. Congrats, Maple
Mathletes. We are one
step closer to putting Maple
on the Math Team Map. The
team will also be competing
in a Straw Bridge Building
Competition on April 10.
They won this last year and
hope to take home the title
again this year,” said coach
Sarah Arends.

to the ’80s and join Youth
Services of Glenview/
Northbrook for its 2019
Spring Benefit on Saturday,
May 4, at Chevy
Chase Country Club in
Wheeling.
Enjoy a fun and exciting
night of dinner,
dancing, live and silent
auctions, and the best
‘80s hits by popular band
Tributosaurus.
For the first time, Youth
Services is faced with a
waiting list of nearly 35
families. Local families
have made commitments
allowing for an additional
staff member, who is
currently being hired.
However, we are in need
of funding multiple additional
clinicians. The demand
on our services has

Our visibility in the community,
work with local
schools, reputation for referrals,
wonderful facility,
expanded programming,
and parents’ willingness to
seek services for their children
is leading to daily additions
to the waitlist. We
will be highlighting this
need at the event.
In addition, we will be
recognizing the contributions
of Becky and Bob
McLennan, who helped
kick off our capital campaign
for our current facility
with a gift of $1
million. The building is
now 10 years old and has
been a beacon of hope and
safe space for thousands
of children over that time.
