Giving students the opportunity to study
from an innovative and broad curriculum is
critical to providing each student a pathway
that meets their individual needs. We allow for
a greater range and flexibility in subject choice
including the utilization of the secondary/
tertiary interface. This reinforces the philosophy
underpinning personalised learning
and is strongly supported by understanding
our students’ interests, passions, talents, and
ultimately their career aspirations.
We understand that for effective learning to
take place, it has to be implemented in such a
way that students will be highly engaged. The
school does this in a ‘forward thinking’ way
by creating learning environments that allow
our students to see value in what they do and
achieve. Papanui “PRIDE” is what we represent
and we demonstrate this by having young
adults leave our school as confident learners
who have gained the appropriate qualifications
and social skills to become valued contributing
members of society.

responsiveness, inclusion, and high expectations

Middle School (Years 7-10) Proving Successful
Our vision at Hillmorton High School is “With
our communities, we nurture well-rounded
and accomplished young people, prepared and
ready for life”.
Our Middle School culture of collaboration
is seeing our vision become a reality where our
students are quickly developing the skills and
attitudes needed for success in the 21st century,
with our “learners are at the centre”.
With construction of our Middle School
building about to start on our tennis courts,
there will be no interruption to learning during
the build. The building itself meets our brief of
flexibility with single cell classrooms which can
be opened into each other and onto an indoor
street. We are excited about this new learning
environment where students will be actively
engaged in all aspects of their learning.
Our Middle School is already proven in
developing young people who are academically
successful, they are leaders and they continue
to love learning, all within a collaborative and
highly safe, nurturing, warm environment.
