Heritage Park<br />
Providing recreational opportunities to residents remains a top<br />
priority for the Village of Homer Glen. Over the past year, the<br />
primary focus has been on developing the jewel of the park<br />
system, Heritage Park.<br />
Heritage Park is a 103 acre park located behind Village Hall<br />
at 14240 W. 151st Street. Heritage Park will host a variety of<br />
recreational opportunities, act as a central gathering space for the<br />
community, and provide interactive access to a beautiful natural<br />
environment.<br />
The park is now open to the public, although many sections<br />
are currently under construction. The available features include<br />
Heritage Circle, a 1.5 mile walking and biking trail and open space<br />
enhanced with the planting of 136 new trees. On the east side<br />
of the park, work continues on constructing wetlands, bioswales,<br />
rain gardens and improving the fishing pond. These beautiful<br />
additions will offer educational opportunities and improve<br />
drainage in the Woodbine subdivision.<br />
MULCH BAGGED OR BULK<br />
Heritage Park is the new home for the annual community festival.<br />
Homer Fest will offer food, fun, and entertainment Thursday, June<br />
20 – Sunday, June 23, 2019. Now in its ninth-year, this event draws<br />
thousands of attendees from the Homer Glen area. Parking and<br />
admission are free to the public. Homer Fest includes four days of<br />
carnival rides and games.<br />
Active Core, Heritage Park<br />
The Active Core will open to the public this summer. This sevenacre<br />
area in the center of the park will provide active recreation<br />
opportunities for all ages, including a nature-themed play area, a<br />
pavilion, bocce ball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, sand<br />
volleyball courts, a fitness area and a challenge course. The next<br />
addition to Heritage Park will be a certified 18-hole disc golf<br />
course. The Heritage Park sled hill will be open to the public and<br />
known as one of the best sledding hills in the area!<br />
Future phases of the park are being designed. Stay tuned for<br />
updates!<br />
