The Weekly TImes - TWT - 8th May 2019
The Weekly Times - TWT - cheekily describes itself as a campaigning, crusading, truth-seeking, death defying, Aussie battler-aligned, one-eyed-Tiger-led news organisation dedicated to Sydney's north west. It's one of the few remaining independently run community newspapers and turns 100 years old in 2021 - so if you want to show your support for independent media, have a quick look at the paper, submit a letter to the editor via its website or like or share one of its posts on social media. The flip book - or digital edition/replica - of the 1st May edition of TWT can be reached here: https://weeklytimes.com.au/the-weekly-times-twt-8th-May-2019/ And the most current edition of TWT is always reachable using this short address: bit.ly/OurTWT

VOTE 1
PROGRESSIVE
INDEPENDENT
Longtime Woolwich resident
Dr Arthur Chesterfield-Evans
is returning to
public life seeking election
to the federal parliament
as the Independent Member
for North Sydney.
Dr Arthur has previously served
in the NSW Parliament as a
member of Don Chipp’s Australian
Democrats party from 1998
to 2007 fulfilling his leader’s aim
of “keeping the bastards honest”.
During that time he was largely responsible
for inquiries into mental and dental
health, the funeral industry and the riots
in Redfern and Macquarie Fields.
And this is not the first time he has attempted
to represent the people of North
Sydney. Last federal election he stood as
the Greens candidate.
Earlier Dr Arthur became well known
as an advocate for banning cigarette
smoking and was a spokesman for
BUGA UP - Billboard Utilising Graffitists
Against Unhealthy Promotions.
Dr Arthur lists his three biggest issues
as:
1, Corruption in Government, both in
terms of actual money transfer and in
corruption of process.
2, The need to act on climate change
which includes energy policy and transport
as well as the environmnet.
3, Fix Medicare. This means to have a
universal system that pays doctors and
does not require everyone to have their
own private health insurance.
