advising staff with regard to visual arts programming.
c. Assist staff in obtaining resources for successful visual arts programming. Resources means
volunteers, advisors and financial support including in kind goods and services.
d. Define the goals and/or measure of success for visual arts programming, develop the metrics to
evaluate each program and on at least an annual basis review and evaluate each program.
e. On behalf of ArtsQuest assist in developing relationships with visual artists.
f. Assist and advise the Performing Arts Board for visual arts content of festivals, markets and events.
Responsibilities of a Board Member:
a. Attend Board meetings (generally 10 – 12 annually).
b. Be an active member of the Visual Arts Board, a Trustee Committee or a Visual Arts Board
Committee.
c. Contribute expertise, either during Board or Committee meetings, or as requested to assist staff
with program matters.
d. Be an advocate ArtsQuest in the community.
e. Be an ArtsQuest Circle donor, provided that if a member is not able to contribute at this level he/she
shall become an ArtsQuest member and support the fund raising events for Visual Arts programs to
the extent he/she is able.
Qualifications Sought
Due to its focus on the visual arts, community members are sought with following skill sets: arts education, visual
arts, ceramics, glass, photography, public art, sculpture, painting and drawing, business leadership, community
leadership, philanthropy and/or fundraising.
Groups of Board Members: The ArtsQuest Visual Arts Board has two (2) groups of members: At-large and Ex Officio.
The At-Large members may be a maximum of eighteen (18) are in three classes of up to six (6) members, each
class representing three (3) year terms. One Banana Factory resident artists will be appointed as a voting
member on an annual basis by the staff liaison and the Visual Arts Board Chair.
The Ex Officio member is a staff member designated by the President & CEO of ArtsQuest.
Term (At-Large Members): Members are elected for a term of three (3) years; however, a Member may initially fill
a one (1) or two (2) year partial term. Under the ArtsQuest by-laws, no member may serve for more than three (3)
consecutive three (3) year terms, plus any partial term.
Conflict of Interest
ArtsQuest maintains a conflict of interest policy which requires all Trustees, Board members and staff to annually
disclose any conflict of interest. A copy of the policy is available for candidates of the position.
General Liability, Indemnification and Directors & Officers Policy
The by-laws of ArtsQuest provide for indemnification of a Trustee or Officer for expenses incurred with regard to
any legal proceeding with regard to his/her services to the corporation in the capacity of Trustee or Officer. Trustees
and Officers are in a position of fiduciary relationship with the Organization and absent breach of fiduciary duty,
lack of good faith or self-dealing, are not liable to the Organization for their acts. ArtsQuest maintains General
Liability, Indemnification and Directors & Officers Policy Insurance. Candidates and Trustees may request
information on the coverage provisions of the insurance from ArtsQuest’s Director, Office of the President & CEO.
