Australian Teams
Championships.
Lucia has been
selected in the NZ
11s girls team, while
Ruby will play in the
NZ 13s girls team. The
at the tournament on
the Gold Coast from
Australian state sides
as well as teams from
China, Japan and the Pacific
Islands.
Following the teams event
Ruby and Lucia will travel to
Brisbane in two highly ranked
Australian junior tournaments.
They will play at the Rod Laver
SUCCESS: Lucia
Gale after winning
the girls 10s singles
title last year.
Lead in from July 5-9 and the
Rod Laver Junior Championships
from July 10-14.
Last year Lucia won the 10
the Rod Laver Junior
the doubles.
They will be joined on
the trip by Cashmere’s
junior head coach James
Meredith who is travelling
with the squad for
the tournament.
“This will be a really
good experience for
everyone on the team
and give them a chance
to see how they compete
with some of Australia’s
best juniors,” said Meredith.
“At a lot of tournaments in
New Zealand our top players can
get away with some easy match
ups in the first couple of rounds,
but there will be no easy game in
Queensland.”
