Timmons Way named<br />

for military servicemen<br />

A newly named street in Mount Sterling<br />

honors the memory of two men and their<br />

service to the country.<br />

On May 27, more than 70 people attended<br />

the dedication of Timmons Way,<br />

named for brothers James and Max Timmons<br />

who resided in Mount Sterling and<br />

were World War II veterans. The street is<br />

located behind the town gazebo, off of East<br />

Main Street.<br />

James was an Army Ranger who served<br />

in the Pacific campaign, fighting in the<br />

Philippines and Okinawa. He was awarded<br />

two Bronze Stars. Max enlisted in the Marine<br />

Corps, served in the Pacific, and was<br />

awarded the Navy Cross for gallantry in action<br />

on Saipan.<br />

Sterling town gazebo, off of East Main.<br />

Local talent will shine<br />

at first Cabaret Night<br />

On <strong>June</strong> 12, the <strong>Madison</strong> County Board<br />

of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) will<br />

present its first Cabaret Night, highlighting<br />

the talents of individuals with disabilities<br />

and their friends.<br />

The free event begins at 7 p.m. in the<br />

Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium at London<br />

High School. Donations will be accepted to<br />

benefit services for people in the community<br />

with disabilities.<br />

In true cabaret fashion, the entertainment<br />

will run the musical spectrum from musicals<br />

and television shows to country, Christian<br />

and classic tunes from different eras.<br />

The performers include Keyaira Barnett,<br />

Clayton Conley, Bridgett Gray, Waymond<br />

Harris, Jay Jarvis, Diana Large, Blair<br />

Leady, Nancy Manning, Paula Manning,<br />

Donnie McGhee, Jonathan Mullins-Kimbler,<br />

Penny Powers, Shaundra Sayre, Whitney<br />

Shoaf, Ginny Smalley and Conner Warnock.<br />

Jessica Dunham will accompany the performers<br />

on piano. Paula Manning and<br />

Mullins-Kimbler will serve as emcees.<br />

On hand to lend support will be current<br />

and former theater veterans from London<br />

and West Jefferson high schools, including<br />

Sara Madden, Hannah Messer, Luke Peart<br />

and Garrett Stout. Devin Zerkle joins on<br />

percussion.<br />

Other community members participating<br />

include Michelle Fuller, Billy Fuller, <strong>Madison</strong><br />

County Commissioner David Hunter,<br />

MCBDD Superintendent Susan Thompson,<br />

MCBDD Board President Ted Slanker, and<br />

London Mayor Pat Closser.<br />

London High School students Quinn<br />

Santucci and Reid Gates will handle the<br />

technical and stage crew duties.<br />

“We are thrilled once again to partner<br />

with fellow members of our <strong>Madison</strong> County<br />

community to present something that we<br />

feel is going to be a memorable event,”<br />

Thompson said.
