Hairdressers offer expertise<br />
and creativity at local salon<br />
The opening of the new strip of<br />
businesses at West Melton two and a half<br />
years ago brought vitality and diversity to<br />
the township, with the range of retail and<br />
service operations designed to meet the<br />
growing needs of local residents.<br />
Among these was The Salon, a stylish<br />
hairdressing salon owned and operated<br />
by Viki, an experienced hairdresser who<br />
previously worked in Christchurch, and<br />
has been in the industry for 23 years.<br />
Viki says the location of The Salon<br />
is ideal, as it is easily reached from<br />
surrounding towns including Darfield,<br />
where she lives, and Rolleston, as well as<br />
from Christchurch, and her clients come<br />
from all these areas, and West Melton itself.<br />
“I also enjoy being in a smaller<br />
community, rather than the busier city<br />
environment,” she says.<br />
Working alongside her is Millie, who<br />
has been hairdressing for 15 years, so<br />

expertise in all aspects of hairdressing. Viki<br />
and Millie have worked together for nine<br />
years.<br />
“We get on very well together – we’re a<br />
great team,” Viki says, “and we cater for all<br />
members of the family with cuts, colouring<br />
and styling.”<br />

The Salon a few weeks ago, and is enjoying<br />
getting to know the clients.<br />
The Salon uses NAK (Natural Australian<br />
Kulture) products for both colouring and<br />
styling.<br />
“I chose NAK because the product range<br />
is Sulphate and Paraben free and features<br />
natural vegan ingredients, and the colour<br />
range is beautiful and gives true colour<br />
results,” Viki says.<br />
Viki, Millie and Rebecca are passionate<br />
about their craft and love to create a style<br />
and look to suit the individual.<br />
The Salon, 736 Weedons Ross Road, is<br />
open Tuesday to Friday, with late nights<br />
Tuesday and Thursday, and Saturday<br />
